My wife and I were out to lunch one day and within seconds of one another, we got phone calls that appeared to be from her number.

It was hillarious. Of course, we didn't answer.

I raise holy hell with vendors who do that shit! How fucking dare you call me pretending to be my own number!!!

I guarantee if I get a call from my wife's number or my own number (has also happened once), and it is a vendor, I will be reporting them all over the place... oh, and not doing business with them ever again.

Besides, I only have once car, I don't need six warranties.

Yeah. I have windows 10 on my home pc with auto updates and it only asks me if I want to upgrade. It never forces me or does it without my consent.

But if you do not give consent, it will update without your consent anyway (after some time) 🙂
You just can't stop updates on Windows 10, only delay it for some time.

      Any ideas?

      Also, update windows and Chrome.

Did windows updates this morning and chrome is up to date..

You just want to make sure Windows and Chrome have the latest CA root certs in their stores... that's why he's recommending doing that.

      Anyone using this browser?
I've heard good things online about it, but whats the community thoughts on it?

Didn't know they had a browser but now I'm going to give it a spin.

I just downloaded it on my iPhone - debating on download for my laptop..

Where do you get it? I went to the website, there was nothing there. Just an extension for my current browser.

It's a an app on iPhone as the default browser.

I think you'll find it just looks that way and is actually still Safari.

All web browsers on iphone are repackaged safari afaik, even chrome.

I know that that was true in the past. I'm just assuming that it has not changed. I can't find any reference to it having changed. So I think that that is still true.

Yeah got lazy and I didn't read through everything yet. Just commented on that. But finally made it to the end.

@wrcombs said in How to view .TGZ files?:

I can view all the files from the tgz file after extracting to tar files. but can't actually open or read the files inside of there.. The issue with this is when they send me logs, the logs are also in TGZ files..

      I figured it out -
I have to open the archive in 7zip -after extracting, then use notepad++ to open the file, and it is readable in English to me.

Looks like going on site is still required because I have no idea if IIS is already installed - my guess is it isn't.

oh well, good information to have if I ever need it in the future.

Yeah, if you're going on site - skip all this and just put on VNC.

my thoughts exactly, But I figured if there was a way to do this without having to go on site, it would make it so much easier.
guess I can mark this as solved.

Looking for Audiot Book or Podcast Recommendations to keep me somewhat sane during my time in the car.

Someone recommended “gluten is not your problem “ to me but I’m not really a podcast person so I haven’t listened to more than a few minutes.

      sounds like it's about food..

I think there’s more than just food from what I was told but I’d hazard a guess that there’s a lot about food

      interesting, Thanks!

So would it likely to assume that Username and password are incorrect ?

If the computer receives email, then the username and password were likely correct. Outlook's account setup wizard will only ask for the information one time by default.

If this system has never been able to send email, what is likely incorrect is the email server configuration details.

If it once sent email, then mostlikely Outlook had a connection problem once and popped up the credentials box, then the user put in the wrong info.

This seems VERY likely at this point!

Probably entered the Windows password he uses to login.

Probably his personal email password from home.

That's gibberish. There's no way to know based on what is stated.

I probably missed the actual question.. but questions similar to that confuse me.

It's all math and high school style word problems. It's all about "to meet the requirements", what options would you choose so that the sizes are correct.

You should never over lap channels that causes co-channel interference. If you have to then as stated above the AP's that are farthest physically apart should use the same channel.
Also, I would turn off 2.4GHz unless you NEED IT and even then you probably don't NEED IT on all 4 AP's. Try just on 2 AP's to reduce interference and see what happens. Many cases in our offices I have either completely turned off 2.4 or I have it on only 1 AP and absolutely no complaints about wifi since I did that.

@flaxking said in Azure or 0365?:

I'd say there's probably more roles out there to move up into. Companies may be using Microsoft 365, but could be using other providers for their cloud infrastructure. They might also expect their cloud engineers to know multiple platforms. I had experience creating highly available environments on-premise before breaking into Azure.

This is a good point. The number of M365 jobs out there probably outnumbers Azure jobs. And the M365 jobs typically need just one skill, whereas a typical Azure job will require many. And one is a logical step from helpdesk, and one is a total focus change.

Example: I have an IPv4 network, and you have an IPv4 network, and we want to talk to each other. But there's no IPv4 network between us. We need to tunnel our networks somehow through whatever is between us so that we can network to each other. That in between network could be anything, NetBEUI, IPX/SPX, IPv6, whatever. As long as we tunnel through it, our IPv4 networks can see each other (but not the network inbetween).

What is the best way to secure the most vulnerable attack vector for a network?

      Choices:

A] Remove unneeded services running on the servers
B] Provide end-user awareness training for office staff
C] Update all antivirus definitions on workstations and servers
D] Use biometrics and SSO for authentication

Hey First Question - Thanks Scott

My first instinct D]Use biometrics and SSO for Authentication

The key words in the question is "most vulnerable attack vector" so IMHO, D] would incorrect.

Well People would be the most vulnerable

      so B?

Correct, B. @scottalanmiller will have to confirm though.

I thought that too, but then I thought that was too easy and that he probably was meaning something else .

The test SHOULD be too easy. If you really know the material, and are paying attention to the reading (because the questions are designed to not let you skim them), it should feel pretty obvious a lot of the time.
