Must work SO well.
No, you don't understand. It's got COPPER in it.
No, it can't, it's 100% cotton!
Reminds me of...

No no
She can access all of our file servers, by IP, and all but 1 by DNS name.
So filer1, filer2 work fine to access the share as \filer1\share1 or \filer2\share1
But for filer3 she can only access it via \ipaddress\share
Of course this probably doesn't help this is the first time she's ever used the VPN. .
Roaming user? E.g. notebook which is sometimes onsite and sometimes offsite via VPN? Given the DNS AAAA/A/CNAME record for your filer is ok, it could be a DNS caching issue.
That sounds suspiciously as though the DNS records for that filer are not quite right. If you can hit 3 of 4 servers by hostname, DNS probably isn't the issue. Something to do with the record on that 4th server seems very likely.

Why aren't their files there?
In that case the files remain in the cloud and there is no local component. On local network shares, the files are on your LAN.

Nothing more IT-ish to ask than "what bacon is your favorite?" We've recently discovered an amazing brand of bacon that I'd love to share (just the info... not sharing my bacon!), so what's yours?
Here's mine...
(http://www.petitjeanmeats.com/Peppered-Bacon/productinfo/45/)I' have to say...$42 for bacon is a bit much.. Even the 'Thick cup, 4 1 pound packages is a bit much.. I balk at $8 a pound... but that's still less that PettiJean
...and worth every penny.

I didn't know SW did their own hosted solution.
That's news to me.
I wondered why they had such a large number of servers for the amount of people they had in the HQ when I did the tour before last years SpiceWorld.
Right. It has nothing to do with data mining on user accounts...

Seriously, who let a vegetarian onto a bacon thread???? And then he brings up Kardassians??? Not very mango, brah....
Hey, it was @art_of_shred talking about reality television stars. Ozzy and the Kardassians are all the same to me... people that do shows on cable television that I've never seen but everyone mentions.
I refuse to take any responsibility for your skewed perception of reality. Ozzy may be something like a "reality TV star" today, but the dude has a career that goes back to the 60's, and has been a household name since the 80's. If all you see is "reality TV star", you need help. lol

@RojoLoco Are you making it to the Handle Bar around 8:15 or so tonight? It's on 5th and Brazos.

RE: What's your favorite brand of bacon?
And hence the reason that vegetarians should avoid threads about bacon. Vegetarians won't understand why that matters, but the rest of us get it.

I can't figure out if Russia is trying to destabilize us or if the FBI caused it to keep Hillary from being able to delete any more emails before the election. Now that the voting is over, I'm kind of out of conspiracy theories about it.

Seems unlikely. If you don't believe in beer, why make it? It would be bad press if they didn't eat their own dog food.
That's not quite the same thing. Giving free beer to the employees is not the same as everyone walking around the plant smashed.

RE: Devices not reaching the DHCP server... bad switch gateway to blame?
I was having a brain fart when I said the gateway was the dhcp server. The primary dc is the server. It ended up being that it was set up to failover to a secondary dc (dhcp, that is) but the config wasn't completed on the second dc. It must have tried to failover and got stuck. It would renew leases just fine, but no new leases handed out. Removed that config and it recovered instantly. Problem solved.

I received an interesting request from a doc this morning.
He was wondering if there is a way to password protect or otherwise prevent casual photo viewing of photos on an Android phone.
Currently he only uses the built in camera and the Google Photos app which syncs with Google Cloud for backups.
Umm, don't leave your phone lying around not password protected?
LOL - yeah, that's not what he's trying to prevent. I'll update the OP.
In that case, move the photos to a private location not connected to Google and then delete the photos on the phone/Google Cloud.

RE: iSCSI port w/Windows iSCSI initiator dropping
Is Free-NAS ever a good idea? I've only ever heard nasty things said about it.

Looking to buy a NAS to store graphics files long-term.
We have a client who is looking to store a fairly large amount of large graphics files for as much as a year, with roughly 1 TB of new data created monthly. I have my own thoughts on what might be the best solution for this, but I was hoping for some community feedback.
Thanks, everyone!
