Thanks for the fast reply, the issue is the color setting were set to low by default. Setting it to 16 bit corrected the issue.

So the crash was connecting, not the profile creation?

      Correct.

Is Remmina ceashing when RDP to older servers like Server 2008 R2? That’s the only server giving me issues with Remmina. Try freerdp or rdesktop through command line and see if you have a better experience.

I know this was discussed in the past, but I am not able to find the thread on it.

Windows to Fedora using RDP is fine,.. it's Fedora to Fedora using Remmina that I get the issue.

      0_1530814284753_Remmina RDP Error.png

      Thoughts?

Is this a Type or are you saying that you RDP from a Windows box to a remote Fedora box?

At that time, I was going from Fedora to Fedora

But you are using RDP protocol and not VNC?

Sadly I don't remember currently. And for the moment, I am mainly all Windows again due to some hardware issues. Once things getting settled - oh sometime about 2025 - I will have another go at it.

I was just reading the part where you accessed a Linux PC via RDP from your Windows box, and wanting to make sure I read that right. I am assuming you meant that you accessed a WIndows BOX for Remmina RDP from your Linux box.

No you can RDP into Linux. xRDP will either set up a full X session or use behind in ND the scenes to create a session.

Wow that was terrible. It was supposed to say "or use vnc behind the scenes"

      you can just do

or if you like the cli

      cat ~/.bash_history

Obv only Bash if that's what you're using.

      Why conCATenate? Just use LESS.

You can do either or any combination. Mostly just pointing you you don't need the gui.

@dafyre I didn't ever get back to needing this until now. How were you able to achieve this? I use Fedora 28 and the Cinnamon desktop.

Sadly, no, I haven't. From what I can tell, Fedora 28 (probably 29 too) use Wayland by default. I haven't found a way to get it working yet. I tried switching the Login Screen to use X first, but even that didn't help.

Have you tried disabling Wayland instead?

I hadn't thought about that. I'll have to do a fresh install and see how that's done, unless there's a working VNC Server package in Fedora 29...

Just edit /etc/gdm/custom.conf and uncomment WaylandEnable=false and then restart. You will have only two options GNOME and GNOME Classic.

That gets me one step closer. I can get XRDP to connect to the local VNC server, but the user has to log in (locally) first... :face_with_cold_sweat:

I have zero issues using virt manager viewr for my local guest VM

for remote, I would use RDP or ScreenConnect.

Nothing wrong with it when needed, but it doesn't need to perform well for its role.

Is that only a Fedora issue?

No, definitely not isolated to Fedora. It's any distro, or any that are set up, in a way that PS doesn't like in terms of the xterm environmental. So most, I would assume, are affected, but all have a fix. It's a PS bug, and decently easy to work around.
