FOP2 is not related to FOP. Two different products. FOP is the free built in one. FOP2 is a commercial add on.

I've updated my post to indicate FOP2, which is what I was/am talking about. It lacks the polish that the Mitel console has, as well as a lot of functionality.

That said, for what it is, and the cost (what a SUPER CHEAP?) it's pretty good. and it's great when you've come from having nothing. But when you've come from something like the Mitel console, there is a ton of heartache.

Have you looked at iSymphony? A bit more complex and expensive then FOP2 but has a few more features.

Thanks, that's what I found. I didn't go anywhere with it.. as I mentioned I killed the FreePBX implementation before I could use iSymphony. Which by the way, at least on their website looks much more polished.

If it takes more money to get a better product, I'm totally fine with it. If the FOP2 guys need to charge $500 for an unlimited license instead of $40 so they could have either more dedicated time to it, or hire more people, I can't imagine that it wouldn't still sell like hotcakes.

You might be surprised. Or maybe I would be. But since the primary market for FOP2 is people who are implementing a free PBX, even if it is a great one that makes a lot of sense, the number of companies willing to pay $500 for a new operator interface might be low.

Old. Elastix was its spiritual replacement. We used Trixbox a decade ago and it was fine while it was still current and active. Today, Elastix and FreePBX are the only games in town of that nature.

Don't touch trixbox with an 10 meter pole... It really isn't a good piece of software. We currently have one trixbox server I was in the process of updating to FreePBX. The interface has basically killed itself and now it won't update any of the core files correctly... although it does try to. So I need to dig in and do it by hand for the most part, fixing the issues it created and then adding the new users or make the necessary changes.

If you are interested in some of those feature take a look at Elastix (http://www.elastix.org/index.php/en/)

Sure, and so does Elastix. All of those extra features went to Elastix which is why Elastix is the spiritual successor. It was basically an exact copy of TrixBox.

However, these things are negatives. Having a CRM running on your PBX is a very bad idea. I hate that Elastix includes that. We always strip it out.

In what sense? On FreePBX call recording is free. That is a built in asterisk function.

Right. You don't want anything "extra" running on your PBX. You want the system tight, lean and secure. For home use, you know, it doesn't really matter. But for a business you don't want to play with extra things running on top of your PBX. It is bad enough that people in the SMB sometimes do that on little NAS boxes or whatever. But on a PBX seems completely crazy. That is not your "PBX and general catch all application host."

Right, if you want SugarCRM or vTiger integration run those in a separate VM and just connect them together. More work, but you don't want instability in your phone system.

@IT-ADMIN those are call recording reports, not call recording itself.
