We need to understand where and when it is happening and why it potentially makes sense and if and where potential concerns exist. But that data is being collected itself is not a major concern.

Agreed. I want a list of what they collect & why & how it's used & who can use it. Then I'll quit sharpening my pitchfork and disperse the mob.

Edit: I may settle for less explanation if they get super specific about what they collect.

Pigeon Net vs. South African ISP in 2009

In 2009 they tested this with a 700MB file. It took 70 minutes for the pigeon to do it. The ISP failed completely. A car took twice as long (but could carry a lot of tapes.) The pigeon, basically, has 50% the latency overhead of the car but can't carry a fraction as much information. The ISP is effectively useless.

If in 2009 the pigeon could do 700MB in 70 minutes, today it could do 512GB in the same time! That's like an 800x increase in speed.

Current pigeon speeds would be 7GB per minute or 122MB/s which is 975Mb/s. Pigeons in Australia are basically matching Gigabit Fiber speeds!!

@JasonNM @JaredBusch I wasn't saying I had one or wanted one. I just wondered how the new AP's compared to the old ones in terms of range.

Range is just important to consider in different context. The range of the AP isn't the same as the useful range, which is determined by the AP, the client and the environment together.

Yes, I agree, OpenDNS seems to have been declining in recent years and I can't imagine using them now that they are part of Cisco.

Finally got back around to this.

Updated all my clients that use Veeam to the current version over the last couple days.

Today I setup the first endpoints using the current EndpointBackup.1.1.1.212

It works great for making backups using the the existing Veeam repositories. The plus side to using the Repository is that I get to see it in the VBR panel and status email from existing setup just like if a main backup fails.

Note: Rebooted the user's machine and initiated a backup again. running perfectly.

With SSDs set to change how drives connect as well, I think that we will see many form factors changing in the near(ish) future.

Be kind of hard for the FTC to sue a Canadian company.

Haha good point. It was just a hypothetical about this type of situation.

I understand the additional points such as automated validation and the open records, but you can get free SSL certificates through StartSSL. The companies who don't want to pay for an SSL certificate (or do the research to find a free one) are most likely using shared hosting or some kind of managed hosting that costs extra to enable the SSL certificate anyway. So if they aren't going to pay the money for the cert, I can't see them paying extra per month to enable the free cert on their hosting.
