Looking at the number of employees working at Ubiquiti versus their revenue, also suggests that (most?) of their products are not designed in-house. That's just speculation of course.

Well the Edge line, and this is me guessing, is likely third party hardware that they buy (that's pretty easy) and they basically use an open source OS barely modified. They were half public about that when they started, so it kinda made sense with that line. No idea if they continued that with Unifi and others.

Well, they started with RF-based products so they have that expertise in-house.

It would make sense that their wifi products are developed by themselves and manufactured by OEMs while the rest are ODM products.

That's the quickest way to expand the product range. Otherwise you need a ton of employees. From the info online they're only about 1000 employees worldwide.

Ubiquiti uses standard RS232 communication on a standard EIA-232 port. So this should work fine.

The old ER Lite were software bridged only and not something you ever wanted to do. Horrible performance killer.

The ER-X and ER-4 have an actual switch chip. You don't have to make each port use it, but it is there.

So you could make eth0 be WAN and eth1 through eth3 be members of switch0

My guess would be yes. Most of those released 2015-2016. We've since seen their 3rd gen products released around 2018 with the HD products, and now the UAP6 devices are starting to trickle out. Doesn't really make sense to keep promoting the older stuff.

I moved a test AP to 4.3.28.11361 yesterday. No issues experienced. I moved some additional ones this AM, and still no issue with DHCP like with the 4.3.24.x version

well sure - so look at what the current APs support, then find something that does that or better for the new APs, You might have to play with power settings to keep things from overlapping to much,...

How did you make out using Link? I haven't used it for a short PtP but have used its suggestions for several KM links.

I mean the distances are so short that the tool doesn't make a lot of sense, but it proves what I thought.

Yes, These are a great solution that fill a very comman gap IMO.

So many building to building links are done with products that were designed for much longer ranges, simply because there was never a solution designed for the smaller ranges.

So those look interesting for sure and could be an option.

I got to see the site and there are quite a few trees between the buildings so this may not work.

It might be better fore to just blanket the area from a single focal point.

"We have another business in the building" could mean that they own two companies and those two "companies" are sharing a connection. We might use that terminology for two divisions that do different things but legally can share a connection no problem.

Or it might be some random business that just happens to be in the same building that is trying to not pay for their own Internet, in which case this is a big problem.

Everyone is assuming the second, but I had read it assuming it was the first. But both are just assumptions, to know what the best options are and what is an option really requires understanding that.

Yes, it is the first. So you assumed correctly. So I think we are all set with just breaking out the connection via a switch after the modem.

If it was me and it was two companies that I controlled, I'd use an EdgeRouter Lite, it has one WAN in and two LAN out. That way I'd have central control. Make that control owned by the "parent" organization. Then have each place have their own switches after that point. But only one router.

This is also how I would do it. There would only be one company in control of the one router.

Never mind I figured it out.

I went into "site" settings , In the bottom left corner there was "export site" option.
Click on that, download the backup file,
create network on other Controller, then import site.
You can then (if you have a domain set up) migrate the AP to that Controller.

I didn't have this issue; I installed and it's working properly, can view, and edit the AP .
