I started playing around with nextcloud. Trying to see if this is a viable replacement for our windows based file server.
The use of NC compared to a network share is significant with the exception of WebDAV shares. The sync client can make personal files available easy enough - assuming enough local storage - but how do you manage shared drives?
If you already have an AD environment, you just connect NextCloud to the AD environment and do user/group permissions like normal. The latest demo that I put together is joined to AD and uses the in-place file server for storage. It's making files accessible by any device anywhere.
I don't follow - are you saying NC has SMB sharing? If so - cool!
I think he means he's just using NC as an optional interface to the file server

RE: Do you ask for permission...
We have a manintenance window and for any change that involves risk or down time we have to submit a change request form that is approved by a committee that consists of one person from desktop support, devops, network engineering and our CIO.

Nextcloud:
There are some warnings regarding your setup. The "Strict-Transport-Security" HTTP header is not set to at least "15552000" seconds. For enhanced security, it is recommended to enable HSTS as described in the security tips ↗.
If you're using nginx externally as a reverse proxy you need to add
add_header Strict-Transport-Security: max-age=31536000;
to your server block to resolve thisNote: Hm. This actually isn't working. The example Nextcloud uses is a virtual host

@scottalanmiller Noticed that ML was 502ing sporadically the last 5 minutes. Don't know if someone else also had the same experience.

I'm hoping that Sekiro is great but the gameplay makes me question if I will like it

I'm on season 3 of the 100 and all I can say is this is not what I expected when I watched the Pilot episode.
Safe to say I'm hooked.I'm at the end of season one and boy did I feel like I was watching something one of my girlfriends in highschool would've liked in the beginning. It's growing on me over time.

Playing Apex Soon after dinner.
I am incredible at FPS games typically and I am absolutely terrible at Apex. I can't get used to the way you shoot in it

RE: Where to read Code? or Best practices to Learn Code?
@WrCombs This is what a lot of my friends who code for dropbox, weebly, etc strongly suggest in regards to python:
https://learnpythonthehardway.org/
I got it. It's written but it also has video/audio tutorials, etc. Pretty great.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Put a discussion link in my wiki for each article that links to an internal nodebb instance. I was thinking this could be a good way for them to seek help if they can't get it working and we have something else that can be referenced as input for changes to the documentation overall. win/win

RE: What did you have for lunch or dinner today?
Burger King at a rest stop in NJ. Hopefully I'll become infected with worms that cause me to become super intelligent like Fry in Futurama. Probably just food poisoning though

Well, dagnabit, said I setup backups for a client instead of going to see the new Avengers tonight. Called the client who had cancelled on us. Now I still have to wait until tomorrow to go see the movie (well, don't have to, but I'm not staying up till 1AM on a work night.)
Avoid those spoilers like the plague my dude. Gods speed

GOT is such a let down right now
is it because Jon didn't pet the dog?
It's because they spent 6 seasons building up this great lore with a ton of storylines that cross only to throw it all away. I wouldn't be that mad if i didnt think GRRM would die before finishing his books but it's extremely likely at this point.

I am very let down by Game of Thrones. No spoilers here other than saying the past two seasons have been awful.

While I agree he is using a stain, he's painting the stain on.
Also F doing that by hand, I'd rather buy a house that matched what I wanted than waste a weekend doing that and getting the stink eye from the wife on the one spot I fell off the ladder and messed up the no so perfect line.
Yeah It's just absorbed into the brick from my understanding. Seems everyone does it this way from what I can see
How else could it be done? Dunking the whole wall in a bucket the size of the grand canyon?
Finger painting
