Just dodged a bullet of a tornado here... It went about 15 minutes north of us.

That sounds like a go home event here.

No, generally driving and being at home rather than an office NOT things you do in a tornado!

Unless you work from home and you have a storm shelter.

Gelato is not food. Your children may think they're lucky now, but they'll realize that you've hated them when you're not watching and they eat a steak.

Figuring out why the Backup Exec isn't talking to VCenter.

      Because it isn't Veeam?

Because it's Backup Exec and not "talk-to-vCenter Exec"?

      And certainly not RestoreExec.

Turns out the new guy changed some pathing inside of vmware that left BExec bereft of data to backup since they weren't where they were expected. The error message from BE was less than helpful.

Why is ls -F the classify option? Usually these make sense like -l being long format

I honestly never use -F. Where it's not already set at a system level alias, I will change ls to `ls --color=auto'. Much easier to read in general I think.

Besides the --color=auto, -a, -l, and -h are really the few operators I tend to use with ls.

I have gotten so used to ll that it pisses me off when I have to type out ls -alF.

      Wow. Just refreshed the page.

Yeah, advice fail right there 😞 I mean I get his point, but I don't agree. It's "you don't know how to do your job to a minimum level of competence, so let's just gloss over that and give bad advice since it's too hard to treat you like a professional." If I gave that same advice people would be all over me for being condescending and thinking that the OP was too "dumb" to do his job. But other people treat him like a child and it's considered normal.

I dont know how to do that.

I think the restaurant is trolling you. That ex-meat (?) looks very moldy and appears to have begun a spore colony. Also, the one edge of that looks ragged. As I know you're a pescatarian, I have to wonder if this is part of a dorsal fin? Why was it left out in the sun? Did it get buried for 3 months?

Those are the best kind of party.

If there was a fare sale and I had the time, I'd fly down for one, especially if I had a place to sleep. Hotels can be expensive, even when you have a corporate discount.

I spent a little more than 2 hours last night in Ark trying (and succeeding) to get 2 L shaped sections of a structure to have ramps lead down with a proper concave vertex. Ark doesn't have a great building system and the way it handles clipping is to not, so the vertex, even with the mod, was very trying on my patience.

Tonight, I'm going to work on filling in some gaps around the rest of my area, and maybe rebuild some walls so that they line up evenly.

Sure would be nice if someone like Kelly logged in and helped me to end the boredom by letting me help them to get started, or something. It's boring being alone.

@NerdyDad me too. We love fresh herbs. Sage, lavender, rosemary. Rosemary grows great here. I'd love having some big rosemary bushes like we had in Italy.

I think rosemary also repels mosquitoes so yes, definitely worth it. Definitely recommend on getting a programmable watering controller. Something like https://www.orbitonline.com/products/sprinkler-systems/timers/timers/outdoor-wifi-timer/b-hyve-6-station-smart-wifi-sprinkler-timer-v2-2543

      Basil and catnip, too.

Catnip is a controlled substance. Make sure you encase it with 16 gauge or sturdier caging. If you don't, all the cats in your neighborhood will be your best friend.

My baby quetzal grew up! 4 hours (ish) to hatch, and 25 hours to grow to an adult. The interactions were about 2 hours apart. Unfortunately, I only got a 35% imprint bonus since I didn't interact every 2 hours. 😞 I need to see about adjusting some server settings as I'd like to be down to a 12 hour growth rate. In any case, I now have momma, poppa and child for battle, speed and weight birds, and they're all about 370th level. Pretty wicked!

Is this like that digimon game where you had to keep the digital egg warm until it hatched, and then feed the digital animal etc?

Sort of? There's a lot more to it. There are FPS aspects, riding a tamed dino (while shooting), building a base, harvesting resources (like minecraft), exploration, and there are PvP servers if you care for that.

      https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEYfsfyne69mFfNTcZeZ6gw

      That actually sounds pretty cool

It's in pre-release. Put it on your steam wishlist and try it out when it's on sale. I run a server and can send you an invite.

Setting up a new speaker. This is going into a super loud environment. It's capable of 120dB. Needless to say, testing the max volume in an office is not advisable.

To confirm volume quality I think you should hide the speaker under a co-workers desk and randomly spot test it.

Excellent idea. There is a built in "ringer" of dogs barking. It would scare the crap out of someone for sure.

At 120dB, it might be the last auditory scare they ever get...

Yeah, this thing is no joke. Scared me, and I knew it was coming.

I have one of http://a.co/0DNYGPP on my motorcycle. Incredibly needed!

Those things are brutal. My friend has one on his.

Nah, brutal is what my brother had. He installed a horn on his motorcycle that mimicked the sound and volume of a train horn. Unfortunately, certain states frown on that and he had to remove it.

I'll take a $150 ticket any day over getting flattened by something that didn't see me.

I would completely agree as long as the person that caused me to use the horn in the first place also got a ticket, preferably in a larger denomination than mine.

      Fixing this:
      Qxenicj.png
In case anyone is wondering how, here are the steps I use:

      • Do:
        Net stop wsusservice
        IISReset /Stop
        IISReset /Start
        Net start wsusservice
      • Then (if that fails):
        C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools>WsusUtil.exe postinstall

Also, you can check the application pool for wsus and increase memory if you have a lot of clients. Details: https://www.404techsupport.com/2016/03/21/iis-wsus-private-memory/

Also, while writing this, I fixed the reset server node error and my wsus is running fine now.

Not fun 😛 It happens a lot for Server 2012 R2 and Server 2016 WSUS....

It has to do with the database, as far as I can tell. There are several scripts out there for handling database cleanups, including one by Microsoft that's included with the application, and I've yet to find one that truly works perfectly.

Happens all the time with WID Database or SQL Server Express/Standard?
Because I wonder if using SQL Server would work better?

If you're willing to license a full SQL server for WSUS, then you'd probably be best off spending the money on a 3rd party solution, like ManageEngine, to handle patching.

Is the kiddie pool to allow you to ignore bathroom breaks? I don't understand. There's no water in there ....Why are you wearing a hat indoors? Why is that child holding the beer in such a way that it gets warmer faster? What's with the towel (I mean, one should always know where your towel is, but ... no water is present)?
