@thecreativeone91 You better cross your eyes, fingers, toes and legs... and knock on wood before you start, lol.

I've been burned by the Windows software "raid" more than once... Nothing beats a good (tested) backup.

On to phones - Damn they are expensive. I really can't understand what makes an iPhone or Note 4 cost nearly $900 when I can get a SP3 for about the same with a screen that is 5 times larger and a much larger battery. While I do do it, I am personally irked with myself every time because of this disparity.
That makes two of us. Because we know that by next week our $device will be obsolete... I usually try to buy top of the line so that I don't have to upgrade my device for a couple of years... but that Note 3 was a wash.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
By the time you start getting up into the devices costing between $800 and $1300, You could purchase really nice laptops... I just bought a 17" Laptop 2/16GB of RAM and a NVIDIA something or another with 4GB of RAM.... And it came out to be $1350. It's a gaming laptop, and the battery life sucks (only an hour or two), but I could replace any desktop around me with it.
Do you really want to be paying that kind of premium for portability? (I can't say anything -- I just upgraded my phone from a Note 3 to a Note 4, lol.).

RE: Shell Scripting to be done for verifying the software version and also not to update
@scottalanmiller In my VM, I extracted a firefox-31.tar.bz2 and moved it to /opt/firefox ... and then as my normal user, I ran firefox, and it updated anyhow.
But I found there is a setting in the channel-prefs.js file you can add to disable the automatic update.

RE: Shell Scripting to be done for verifying the software version and also not to update
@scottalanmiller I went through the same set of instructions that he used. And when you run the Firefox v31 binary, it automatically updates to the latest version (although I did not run the application as root, so I am uncertain how it did this, lol).

Also trying to determine how I want to do some documentation. Online, Offline, Paper & pen or Paper & typewriter.. don't know where I want to go with it,..
Well... Paper & Typewriter is more likely to be legible to others. Especially if you have handwriting like mine!
You can then scan said typewritten documentatoin into PDFs and upload them to the web for both Online, offline, and Paper hardcopy... How 'bout that? -

@thecreativeone91 So they actually got caught? That is awesome!

RE: IT/Physical Security
@thecreativeone91 If they have physical access to your system, you can never be 100% sure of anything. I know of tools that will allow you to boot a computer from USB or CD or $otherstoragemedia and log in with any username and password you want. It works both with Windows and Linux.

RE: IT/Physical Security
If they had physical access to the cash registers, it could be they were able (or were attempting to) install some type of Malware on the system, yea?

@thecreativeone91 Wouldn't wiping the router be a bit much?
I suppose in theory but, there is a lot of information to be gained from looking at router configs and firewall ACLs.
This is true.

3.) disconnect the VPN and wipe config off the router.
Get an internet aware power bar and just signal it to power off. Plug your router / modem / important bits into it.
We have them. We just don't want the power to be the defense as the thieves must be getting smarter and would plug it back in. also no modem there it's fiber. Just a router.
Restoring the config and what-not would require a visit to the remote location, wouldn't it?
