Correct you do have QoS. It is on the VLAN, that contains the voice devices.

So the following is an incorrect assumption.

@scottalanmiller said in Time to gut the network - thoughts?:

You might want to LEAD with.... since we discovered that QoS was not set up properly and has never been a problem we can assume that QoS and ensuring call quality cannot be the reason.

Let them come up with a reason if you head that off at the pass.

No, it's correct. They didn't do their jobs properly. They neither did the sensible, cost effective thing for the business, which would have been to not have a VLAN at all. Nor did they properly do QoS for your VoIP traffic.

So no matter what, they didn't set up QoS correctly for you.

Stupid Fing wireless AP giving me a hard time for nothing....

I swapped the AP's from the two areas, "the one that had issues", came up and worked, no changes.

Put the other in place of the one with issues and it works without any changes.

      What the heck...

ROFL. The gremlins are out to get you today.

Man, I need to grab a picture of me petting my cat. She's a calico that looks like Gizmo when scratching behind the ears.

@JaredBusch so I'd have to purchase an additional POE injector or do they come with the UAP‑AC‑LITE?

All of the UAP series come with a PoE.

Well that's just swell, saves some money.

      Thank you for the input.

How did I know you were going to trash my windows phone 😉

      Because: Windows Phone?

Seriously, with the other two operating systems, the app wraps it up nicely. So. Never checked if AT&T made a version for WP.

The app has no ability to lock down on usage. that is a monthly "add on" youhave to pay for with AT&T and TMO

now they are just syphoning money - this should be a free add-on. But that's just my opinion.

As a father of two children that will have phones, I agree.

@JasonNM @JaredBusch I wasn't saying I had one or wanted one. I just wondered how the new AP's compared to the old ones in terms of range.

Range is just important to consider in different context. The range of the AP isn't the same as the useful range, which is determined by the AP, the client and the environment together.

You do not have to go all that high on a tower/building to get LoS over 200km.

But realistically, most users of this will be way under 200km. The WISPs will love this thing.

Really? I've never gotten a sales call from them and I've used them since 1997 ish. I've had one or two of their lower end units die, but at the price I paid that was still a pretty big win.
