@coliver said in Nintendo Switch Announced:

To really shake up the market Nintendo needs to look at putting their backlog to mobile and PC. That would take Nintendo from a distant fourth in the hardware business to a serious competitor in the software business.

Problem is... tons of their games are actually terrible and only sold because there was no competition. Of those that were okay, the majority rely on hardware gimmicks not available on phones or PCs. So porting the games is very, very hard. Anything since the Wii or DS era and you are seriously hampered in getting those games to another platform. Older stuff like GBA and GameCube you can port pretty easily.

So even series that people liked, it would be a struggle to get the full series ported. And everything would need to be totally revamped or it would showcase how poor the graphics were in the originals.

Got the same email. While I won't trust it for anything production wise, I have been toying with it a little. It's there... I paid for it,.. why not.

I stil have I think 8 CPU's from that scam. Maybe I'll set up a free 3CX server on it over the weekend for giggles

I thought of doing a FreePBX install - not so much on C@C, but just to toy with and have an extension for my brother for internal calls... meh,.. maybe...

My boss knew I was leaving for a while and asked me not to announce it until he made the announcement several weeks later.

The I'm Back thread was about the hurricane not work related.

But still funny in that above context.

TV shows and novels are horrible comparisons in the way you are both using them.

This was the point I was trying to drive to, but clearly missed. The closet I got was when I said it takes me 8+ hours to read a book, and a TV show is 30-60 mins. These types of entertainment are not really comparable.

It's better to compare a typical comic book to a TV show. Though a comic probably doesn't typically take 30+ to read.

Will uBlock (or any ad blocker) get rid of that nonsense?

You can probably remove that overlay element unless it isn't the article behind it.

There isn't. It's a paragraph of text in the code and that's it

Ah. Ya I do it when I get those ads that cover the whole screen and there isn't a way to close them. Oh well.

So you don't have to empty the litter that the USPS puts in every mailbox every day? Lucky... I usually take 100% of what's in the mailbox and walk straight to the trash bin.

They probably still bring that stuff. Just not the stuff for him.

Some of the WP10 updates broke things. There was one that left me unable to use any Hotmail contacts for about 7 weeks. They disappeared after one update, then a bit later came back wouldn't open and I couldn't use them to text/call/email people. Another seemed to lower battery life to less than a day.
Since late summer though there have been no problems I have noticed.

That doesn't instil faith in their abilities.

He's talking about during the beta. I haven't heard of these issue since the RTM of Windows 10 Mobile.

Can't gmail act like a Pop3 client and go get the mail? So this really doesn't keep people from using another service like gmail.

O365 does too. And any client like Thunderbird or Outlook would fix this too.

      Curious.

We tried the SimpliSafe system, but found that it didn't have some of the features we wanted. Maybe 'hacking' it with the RPi would be the solution.

The feature we wanted was that some doors announce not just chime. We have kids that are starting to have friends come over. And to hear

      Front Door - Open

      Would be nice.

Also, the window/door sensors seem expensive.

No that would not work as simplisafe base unit doesn't know the names you give it. now if it alarms you could get that info as the serial is sent to the web DB and then tied to give you the friendly name.
