Zigbee is a randomly developed standard by a new alliance that doesn't have much experience. It's had many security concerns since day one. Anyone using it just plain didn't care about security.

I completely agree, though I wouldn't call it new.

So what open standard do you know about that all of these guys are refusing to use, that's been vetted and so far stands up to good security practices?

I'm a bit curious too. He has tons of secret knowledge about this stuff and AV equipment that when prompted for, doesn't have anything to show for it. Can't tell if he's bluffing and doesn't realize we will ask for more info, or if he knows so little that he's unclear as to what constitutes a reasonable bluff. The Curtis dilemma, in the second case, wants to sound cool but knows so little he can't tell when he is telling a reasonably lie or a ridiculous one (like that he watched the Internet get invented in 1998 - years after we'd all been using it regularly.)

Not a fan of the form factor but being not MS it might be usable.

It just makes me wonder - MS has all those resources, yet the SP4 and Surface Book had huge hardware issues (mostly if not entirely driver related) that took them 9 month to fix.

I understand that it's a hard computer problem to solve - or so they tell us (sounds like Intel actually had a lot of blame on this last round of chips), so I don't know how this small team can really compete?

MS has a lot of resources but is also crippled by politics.

This above is actually called a weekly rate, it's neither hourly nor salaried. I've seen a lot of places do "day rate" where you get paid X per day, regardless of work done. Or day rate + hourly which gets really confusing.

I was actually day rate + hourly back at my last truck driving position. I was probably the only one who actually got paid a decent wage as well. Got a flat rate of $50 for two bump runs each day between Cleveland and Akron, plus an hourly rate whenever I worked between bump runs, which was all the time because they had no backup.

I used to do daily where it was flat day rate for 40-50 hours a day. No matter what you worked, you were expected to do at least forty hours. The rate was flat. Once you went over 50 hours, you made hourly your day rate/40. So you made your best per hour rate working 40 hours, your worst working 50 and it slowly improved for every hour over 40.

Why somebody needs a screensaver for a phone? I use Home+Power and it works!

In my experience, it seems to be the natural reaction to a camera pointed at her.
