That worked, as much as it is a bad idea, disabling UAC got things working again.

    • RE: A Required Privilege Is Not Held By the Client

Assuming that UAC is the issue, I went into regedit and set:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

      To 0

      Will let you know.

Tried making a file from inside Notepad that was "Run as an Administrator" and that worked. So I am thinking that UAC is just not triggering like it should.

User is a local admin, but that does not solve the issue.

    • A Required Privilege Is Not Held By the Client

Windows 10, 😄 drive. Normal user trying to create a file. User gets this error when they seemingly have permission already to use the file system...

      Screenshot from 2019-01-29 14-22-53.png

An unexpected error is keeping you from creating the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.

Error 0x80070522: A required privilege is not held by the client.

Good luck as you try to work through all of this.

Wow. This is not your problem at all. Sounds like you have already documented. If they don't want to put a transition plan in place, that is out of your hands. You always have the right to quit, giving notice is great and socially accepted and probably best to do, but even that is purely voluntary. And that's really only for leaving when it is something like retirement or taking a new job. If you had a family emergency or whatever, you don't even have any expectation (or potential) for that.

    • RE: Alternatives to OpenVPN for FreePBX on cell phone...

This had come up in the past and @bigbear had recommended putting an SBC in front of FreePBX to handle the issue. Although that creates the issue of dealing with that security at a different point, so not a fix completely in and of itself.

    • RE: Which SD-WAN do you prefer and why?

Are vendors like Meraki doing anything more than a traditional VPN site to site setup? I don't normally think of vendors like that in conjunction with SD-WAN.

Thanks guys. Seems like not too many people have plugins focused on performance. I'm surprised, seems like those things would be pretty common.

For home use, stand alone is normally fine. But as wrx says, it is limited.

    • RE: Sonic Wall Rules?

@WrCombs said in Sonic Wall Rules?:

I created Ip objects, put to a group and set the Other network to be able to view those IP's and only those IPs.

      Is that correct?

That sounds correct. SonicWall is always hard to visualize without just working right in the console.

    • RE: ScreenConnect agent on Fedora fails rpm install

YUM or DNF is the better way to go, but yeah, if the RPM doesn't have any deps, they won't do anything special compared to just installing with the RPM command. I would agree, a better practice to use them, but remember that they might not have any dependencies to check against.
