The script I started with was shamelessly stolen from a Technet post.

That gave me a pretty good start. I did some light editing to more accurately match what was going on at my employer when I first used it for a large batch of users rather a while ago.

Now I'm making some more changes and additions to turn it into something a bit more broadly useful day to day.

      @wrx7m

I'm working on similar project a bit.

The script I'm working with pulls a bunch of info from CSV to create an AD account and populate.

Group membership is based heavily on location and job role here.

I'm thinking I'll use some of the info in the CSV about those attributes to help assign groups using If statements.

Curious what other ideas people may have for this.

    • RE: Remote management of employees personal cell phones ...

I believe some devices/MDM setups allow you to create an isolated space on an employee owned device. You then control that isolated space not the whole device. When the employee leaves that controlled bit can be removed without wiping the device.

No idea how effective/reliable/manageable any of that is since I've not implemented or supported that style of MDM setup. Only done full company owned devices myself.

    • RE: Folder Redirection - GPO - W7 to W10

Win7 profiles create a folder username.V2, Win10 profiles create a folder username.V6. The profiles are different enough that MS won't reuse them apparently.

When they log into Win10 it is creating them a whole new profile without their stuff. Likely in the same location as the old profile given GPOs are involved.

There is no auto sync for this process that I'm aware of. You can copy docs and what not from the old profile to the new after the new folder is created.

Somebody might have a script lying around that would help out with the move?

Not sure if there are still questions re: the device but I've run a few sites using these or related devices for quite a while. APs were purchased as OpenMesh prior to the Datto takeover. Most that we were using were an earlier model but the cloud controller has remained quite similar through the whole process.

They've been reliable and are easy to work with.

Have experienced a few occasions where internet access went down and they stopped providing network access until the connection to the cloud controller was reestablished. Haven't experienced the situation in some time though so unsure if it is still a thing.

I believe you can change settings on the collection to use UPD later. The caveat being there is no import of profile so when you do that everyone is starting fresh.

Ok this is some of the most amazing shit I've ever seen... Thai musicians on traditional instruments playing "Ghost Riders in the Sky", an American country song. Yes, I love weird music.

Awesome! I want to know more about that instrument they have up front. Did a few quick searches and didn't come up with anything that seemed like it was at all correct.

I asked my buddy who posted this on FB that same question - it's called a Dan Bau. It's kinda like a hammered dulcimer, but with a whammy bar. I will be forever on the lookout for one of these.

Thanks for that! Looks like it's a Vietnamese instrument rather than Thai. I am going to have to listen to some more stuff that features it.

The service economy is dying, there won't be Uber, Lyft, Doordash etc much longer as people wake up to the outrageous prices and employees being classified as contractors. I wouldn't rely upon those being available.

A lot of related stuff like the scooter\ebike rental services have been running on VC money. In some cases that money is drying up and prices are increasing. We'll see how long it all lasts.

Denver is losing another car share in the next month so fewer options to get around for those of us that have dropped personal motor vehicle ownership. There are now 0 car share companies in my neighborhood rather than 2-3 when I ditched the car.

So yeah try not to make the decision based on access to any particular company's offerings.

I call it nutrition instead of diet

And you'd be wrong because they are different. Diet is diet. What you regularly eat and drink is diet, period.

When someone says diet, it doesn't necessarily imply a specific special intake of nitrition. It's all diet, even if you only consume twinkies, or eat regularly and nothing specific. It's a diet no matter what.

When someone says "I am going on a diet" which is more or less what was being discussed it does mean a particular plan of intake. It also frequently means a short term, unsustainable plan.

It is helpful to think of nutritional intake changes outside the context of "going on a diet" because setting long term, sustainable changes is going to work out better.

Weighed in at the doctor the other day at 154 lbs ( 5 pounds more than the last time I was there)
for being 5'8 my Dr. said that's an extremely healthy weight.

      I've started talking with a Nutritionist - she's put me on a "diet" ( i use loosely.)
the only thing she's given me is Macro Goals - Macro-nutrients are Protiens , Carbs, and Fats
and my Goals are to hit a certain Number of grams per Macro a day. It doesn't matter what I eat (more or less) as long as I hit my Macros before I go to sleep at night, I'm good to go.

Been working out 3 days a week still , mostly at home work outs though ( pullups, push ups, ab works outs) I have yet to join a gym but that may happen.

My goal is to not add any weight and lose maybe 10 pounds and gain muscle.

I call it nutrition instead of diet, then people understand that you're not on a short term thing or a fad thing.

If you're gaining muscle, it's likely the scale won't change much for you... muscle weights a lot more than fat. The scale hasn't changed much for me in the past 6 months...

Yes! Using different language for these things is helpful. You aren't on a diet. You are creating new eating habits. They don't all need to be about what you are eating either.

I know I've said it in here before but the single most effective thing I did was to increase time for eating. A meal takes at least 20 mins. If you don't have 20 mins for a meal at least give yourself a 20 min. window before going back for seconds or a snack.

Getting ready to kick off a new custom campaign using The Burning Wheel system as the basis.

I have all of those books and really like the conflict resolution mechanism. I've never played it though.

It looks really interesting. I haven't played it at all, but a few of my friends want something a bit more serious than just smash and grab, so we started looking around for a system that would support what we were wanting out of a ttrpg. I'm hoping that this will fill that niche. We're going to actually use Burning Empires since our world is a sci fi one. BITS looks like it could be very fun.

I own an embarrassing number of mostly unused books that BWHQ has published. Really enjoy the stuff they put out.

If you/your players haven't read the Iron Empires comics they are definitely worth checking out before you get your campaign going.

If you have a chance at any point I can't recommend enough getting in a demo session with Luke or Thor. Don't know how much they do that these days but they used to run them at a lot of conventions.

Good input. I'm hoping to see if I can find a video of one of those sessions.

Ah yes we do live in the age of video everything. I didn't spot anything for BE with a quick search but there are definitely some for BW which is probably close enough to be helpful.

Here is one of Luke running a BW:G era version of The Sword.

Great, thank you. I hadn't gotten that far yet this morning, so this is helpful.

Oh and the forums are a good source of info as well.

Walmart store manager near me (I'm in one of the lowest cost major metros in the country) was in the $400K range. Which makes sense if you think about the volume of business a Walmart does and their need to have skilled people in those roles. If you can't pay prevailing wages, you'd be screwed. Department managers (real ones, not office managers) in finance can be $300-850K in a low cost area (easily seven figures in high cost ones) as a comparison for a competitive type job that depends primarily on broad management and business skills.

Probably not definitive but Glassdoor suggests ~140k on average for Walmart store managers. That would put your acquaintance well on the north end of what people are reporting for compensation for that position.
