My copy of Inheritance arrived this week. It is perty!

A slightly LARPy RPG experience wherein a clan of vikings squabble over goods and power in the wake of the death of their leader. Played several years ago in a prior incarnation. It was a convention demo for Burning Wheel back then(and awesome!). Now it is a self contained game and rule set. Will hopefully get to try it out soon!

I loved the Burning Wheel RPG... at least the books. I haven't had the opportunity to play it yet.

I am in love with both the rules and presentation for basically everything BWHQ do. I've not played more than a few one shots at home and at conventions, but Luke and Co. have had a strong influence on what I expect from a game.

That's good. I bought their product on a whim at the first PAX East. The resolution and character creation systems really sold me. Wish I had a steady game group to play it.

I got my first copy at a tiny NJ convention in the dealer's room. It was the first edition. Things have changed a fair bit as time has passed. I don't think the social resolution mechanics existed yet for example. It was excellent then but has definitely benefited from the additional play and thought they've put in over the years.

    • RE: Senior IT Administrator in Gladstone, NJ

14.6 billion in revenue and 120,000 employees according to the Wikipedia page for them.

So a decent size company. I would guess working for one or more of the company's customers rather than on anything internal.

You would think that at that size they might be able to afford a better template for recruitment posts though...

    • RE: Do you implement the Mobile Device Management

I use Meraki. In part because that was in place when I started my current job, but it also does what we need it to. Which is keep track of ~200 iOS devices and make sure that each of them has access to certain information and apps depending on the type of user. Definitely reduces some headaches for me v. doing it all by hand.

We don't use it for AV or monitoring. Except occasionally some one will come in who doesn't know where they left their device and we do a check to see if it has recent GPS data.

Would also love to use the os update feature but sadly you can only use that if you are on a DEP account and our current mobile carrier doesn't support that. 😞

It isn't open source or self-hosted but does have the advantage of being free. It seems Cisco treats the MDM portion of Meraki as a loss leader to bait you into using their hardware as well as the other paid monitoring and deployment features of Meraki.

Just watched one of our fighter's dominate his opponent. 2 more to go today!

I don't even know what this means.

Sorry unclear. 3 fighters from the gym I go to all in one event today. Was super exciting! All three won by TKO!

      Gotcha. What kind of fights?

All three were amateur MMA. There were a few kickboxing fights before our guys went on.

@coliver I did notice a reduction in quality last year but that event is more about seeing friends from all over the country for me. Couldn't go this year.

I got a last minute Sunday ticket for dirt cheap. The board game section, which I normally go for, was probably 1/3 the size this year then it was last (which was 1/2 the size of previous years). The expo hall layout was hard to understand and get around, mostly because they were cramming more exhibitors in.

My brother and I are going to try and hit up the PAX Unplugged event in Philly, that's dedicated to board games so hopefully that will be a nice change.

You ever go to GenCon? I have a lot of board game fanatic friends that go every year. Sounds right up your alley. It is in Indiana I think though

No, that's been on the list for a few years. PAX East was just so much more accessible for us.

Yeah it sounds like it. If you aren't enjoying yourself though maybe it's becoming the better option. From what I hear it's absolutely insane.

Yep, I am probably going to volunteer to run some games for one of the companies I follow in the near future. That will comp the ticket then I just need to get there and pay for a hotel.

If you do end up going let me know what your experience is like. It's been on my list awhile too

Gencon is huge and fun. Worth trying at least once if you are into that scene.

Checking out some of the smaller regional/local cons might be worth while as well. Dexcon in NJ was one of my favorites when I lived out there. Been ages since my last one though so I'm not sure what quality is like these days.

      Edited because phone.

Hm, I can't seem to locate an online presence for Dexcon. What part of NJ is that? I competed for years in Street Fighter and I used to go to a lot of majors for it. not a stranger to going to tournaments. It's a fun time.

Dexposure.com is the site for the group that runs it. The do a lot of other events as well. Dreamation is the other one of theirs that I have been to. Largely the same thing as Dexcon. They run them at about a six month interval.

Hipster is a worthless term. In actual use it's just a catchall for person whose style of engagement with pop culture I do not like. Also stop derailing the damn watch thread with this nonsense.

I am sad that there is currently no more of The Magicians to watch.

Not sure about the decision to age up the characters makes their totally ridiculous behavior a lot harder to excuse. Probably had to do it because of the outrageous amounts of drug and alcohol being slung about.

Amazon Prime upset me because I finished season 1, and they want paid for any of the season 2 episodes. I'll be patient and wait for the next season to finish and become free streaming. It's a good show, but it's not worth the $2.00 per episode they want for each episode of season 2.

Yeah that's the way they work for all but a handful of shows. Prime tends to give all seasons up to the in progress one free. The latest stuff just about always requires payment.

I'm currently waiting on Orphan Black season 4 to go on free mode.
