Selinux cannot be the problem with SSH, if you haven't changed the SSH server listening port. Selinux has sane defaults for SSH, much less for other application… one of the bigger concern in learning RHEL/CentOS is not how to make everything running, but how to run it with Selinux ENFORCED.

Of course, never disable Selinux. Never.
It's maybe the most valuable security feature on the whole Linux ecosystem.

@Lakshmana what is the option here???

Just pay attention and select the right partitions for installing Fedora 25. That's about it. You can't take a backup or move the data elsewhere so you don't have many options.

Either use ACLs/Permissions or encrypt your data. You could use an encrypted loopback device (~"image file") for example, but this requires some background knowledge about the underlying technology.

ACLs are to prevent other users accessing files. Encryption is to stop thieves who steal the drives from accessing them.

Sure but encryption can act as a type of ACL.

Kind of, a shared password kind of ACL.

Sure. Same as group based ACLs. But it's only shared if someone else has your password.

Not really a list unless you do 🙂

@Lakshmana Get a good book and work from console. There's a reason a lot of languages do it like that. Do all the practice exercises for each section until you get them right and understand them.

@thwr I have seen usbmodswitch as the alternative for the USB stick.but many dependency need to download the same whether the full package can be downloaded from any sites ?

usbmodeswitch should do just fine. I'm not absolutely sure, but I think I've used that before with some Huawei-based UMTS stick.

Right, until he gets the internet working.

No, it's not that. The wifi is just for the initial setup. The laptop is actually going to be used offline. He has many posts going back for months about this. He's stuck working in an offline situation all of the time.

Ah I didn't see those. Well then never mind. I thought he was just offline because he didn't get the cell dongle working.

That's his reason for the moment. But the dongle was after we told him that having some way to get Internet would make installing drivers easier because he was doing complicated things offline making them so much worse.

Ya I didn't have any background context so I was just going off of what was in that specific thread and one other where he was having issues with the cell dongle.

His info is spread out all over 🙂 He tends to hit a lot of topics all at once, then wait a bit, and a lot again. It's hard to keep track.

It's a LONG way from being released, too. It's nowhere near beta.

Installing Google Chrome automatically add the Google repo. So no worries about huge attack surface and it's kept up to date.

Good to know, I did not know that the deb package added that for you.
