Passed my CWNA today!

Just presented a business opportunity for wifi engineering, informally, to our president and ownership team; now I may become lead engineer of new opportunity in '23!

Just got good news. Finally closing on some recreational property we bought last year. Took FORVER to get all the paperwork together on the seller's side (swear they were doign it themmselves or their lawyer was a family friend). Closing sent for next week.

Had second interview today with local technolgy distributor for a Tech Support Engineer poisition. Interview started at 9:30 and I just left a half hour ago with wirtten offer in hand (and had lunch out for the first time in who knows how long). Looks like I'm goign to need to brush up my Linux skills, @scottalanmiller your book couldn't come at a better time!

Put in my notice today with Ronco. Almost 20 years here but excited for my new opportunity.

We have our own fixed wireless, pair of Ubiquiti AirFibre 24's connecting 2 buildings about 1/2 mile apart, on towers @50ft. So far even during electrical storms we have had NO issues with dropped packets or sync loss, even with tower sway in the winds. Now, our past winter was not as snowy as a normal winter so I am not sure yet how it will behave when we get one of our infamous lake effect storms but so far absolutely no issues. Key was having a professional radio company actually do the installation and line up of the dishes where they had 1 guy on each tower and 1 ground guy at each site to assist with line up.
Locally, we have a fixed wireless ISP that offers traditional Internet, MPLS, and IPVPN services. I know one of the service/operations managers there and he says most issues be traced to bad alignment of the antenna (wind over time twists the mounts causing mis-alignment) or customers not getting enough height (rather not PAYING for enough height) to clear limitations like trees. Works well in the winter when no leaves, but come spring and summer the leaves deflect the signal and speeds drop. Any fixed wireless needs an annual look-see to make sure clamps are still tight and alignment is still ok.

Finally...got an older server here to boot Hyperv2012R2 from USB for a little experimentation

Catching up from a week off, realizing didn't get a thing done i wanted to whiel on vacation (as is usually the case, kids in the swimming pool take priority over freepbx installs)

On Dell you can install OpenManager right on the host (if running Hyper-,V I think @JaredBusch has a guide on here somewhere) and use that to monitor it and email alerts or send SNMP traps.

FYI just ordered a 2.50/month host at Vultr in NJ data center!

Our church went with the most affordable solution the pastor could find: his old iPhone and Facebook live. Hey, it works and fits into the church's technology budget ( that would be $0 for anyone keeping track)
