MS Edge and pop-upsposted in IT Discussion
I don't use Edge... and for many good reasons. Even with it being build off of Chromium / Chrome.
I've used it mainly as a MS / Azure / O365 Admin since I had to have user and Admin level sessions going over using incognito mode in Chrome.
User is having a site issue that it doesn't work in Chrome but works in Edge - but they are getting Pop-ups in Edge even with the Pop-Up blocker enabled under settings.
I've cycled through a few things but haven't gotten to the cache / reset as they are sloow to respond.
What else could I have them try - because else it's Edge and I haven't much of a care....

They just dropped off the 300kW generator for the lower half of the warehouse.
There is stock area for climate controller and refrigerated items….
IT will get a separate generator before long.

Found the issue with the assistance of Eaton Support.
The Remote Power On/Off connector - jumper- is missing.
Needs this jumper to power on

RE: Stationary GSM/3G/4G phone?posted in IT Discussion
That seems like an odd product stream,.. I do see them, but not exactly why. Why isn’t or wouldn’t a standard VoIP phone, or cell phone?
I saw reference to Verizon and Yealink listing the OneTalk T67LTE (2021)….

Of course it’s just a ten minute job,..
Of course doing all that will only take 10 minutes.....
In who's wildest dreams?
The planning part.
That’s where I start by mapping out the cabling and what not and then just start ripping it out without care… that’s ten minutes (grin) then hours and days figuring out how to re-connect everything.
(Edit to remove mobile phone hic-ups)

Planning out a full de-rack and reconfiguration of the cabinet so the server will fit in it correctly. The front posts are set to far in and the server hits the rear doors…
Of course it’s just a ten minute job,..
Ah well,.. just one more thing to do on a Saturday.

winget vs chocoposted in IT Discussion
It is possible that I heard of
wingetprior to this last week,.. but regardless - I was shownwingetthis past week. While I have done some poking around with it I'm only just starting to comparewingettochoco. There is likely some differences between the two, what applications are or are not available.
And I can see benefits to using both to manage applications that aren't on the other platform.
Are there any suggestions on use, comparisons and such one might offer?

Dealing with AT&T and Voice Mail issues. For the last few years I seem to have some delivery issues with voicemails being received in a timely manner.
It's sometimes fifteen to thirty minutes to get a voicemail notification on my phone. The kicker was on the 30th taking twenty-five hours before I received the notification.... UN-REAL.
So, reset the network settings, they reset the voicemail completely... I went from a four digit pin to a seven digit pin.. annoying!
And since... I've not received one single voicemail notification. The little message indicator showed nothing. Manually dial voicemail... THIRTEEN MESSAGES!
WH- The- Actual F
So,.. back to the Support calls I go.
There is another way to solve this problem.
You can set up call forwarding to another service, instead of the cell phone providers voicemail.I do it by forwarding directly to pbx voicemail instead. That way the messages are now in the digital domain. The pbx will email the audio messages, which means I can listen to them without a cell, I can store them, I can forward them to someone else. So many options.
Why would I want to do that, with the added cost and management of a PBX? Seems like a lot of extra work and cost for a fundamental basic service.

What is this odd phrase? Do those words go together like that? Or is this a translation of some idiom badly translated into english?

RE: Eaton Rack Mount 5P: power on issueposted in IT Discussion
@NHCSAdmin said in Eaton Rack Mount 5P: power on issue:
@gjacobse Is the power input set to the correct voltage? We ran into something similar with the 9p line where the power from the street was 208 but of course the generator was at 240. With the UPS set to 208 and the batteries not at 100% it would not turn on while the UPS was running. We found it out the hardway when the power went on and the generator did not kick on and the batteries drained down. Then the generator repair tech got the generator on but it didnt matter since we couldnt turn on the unit since it was set to 208. Confirmed it with Eaton and all.
That's a good call - but sadly no.
I pulled it out of the rack - thankful for the use of a lift as pulling it down from twelve-fifteen feet up on a step-ladder would have been no joy.
Walked it across the warehouse and plugged it back in and noticed that the reported state of charge on the battery was 88%.
Wait, what now? you lost twelve percent, powered off and no load while I walked across the building? That can't be right.
Unit's going back RMA as failed..

@gjacobse Could just need new batteries maybe one of the cell's is low
While possible- it’s a new unit.
But might have been on a shelf for a while?
True,
Pulled it down and testing it… likely will need to exchange it. Reset, pulled the battery,.. still doesn’t want to turn on… but you clearly hear it ‘running’ while charging. -

Eaton Rack Mount 5P: power on issueposted in IT Discussion
Not used the Eaton line much over the years, mainly been APC models.
We have a number of Eaton devices at the site that I will be, and found that one doesn’t seem to want to power on.
Once plugged in, the LCD prompted for initial setup; Language and such. Pressing and holding the Power button has powered most of the devices, but I have one that fails to do so and I am working on some troubleshooting items.
On plug in, the battery shows 87%,.. when I left it showed 90%. Pressing the Power-on resulted in a beep and Status icons to flash once: Power on, On battery, Alarm.
And nothing. I’m assured that the power is live at the outlet - else why would it appear as charging. But I had no tools to test, and honestly - rather difficult from a six foot ladder when the cage is at twelve feet and the outlet at fourteen…
Wondering if someone with more experience with Eaton has seen this before - and if it is an indicator of something in error. It’s not listed in the manual that I have found thus far.
