How to get Edge, chrome and firefox bookmarks from defective laptop? Is it possible to extract it from the SSD w/out booting the Windows 10 since the laptop is defective?

      Yes.
Like @DustinB3403 I'd pull the drive out, and put it in an adapter/caddy.
Then can copy the user profile/specific folders & files elsewhere.

Be sure to encourage the user to back up their stuff.

Have you installed CMC? It should find it by scanning the subnet.

@bishnitro said in How to backup VMWare VMs?:

Just want to confirm, so up to now Vsphere has no means of backing up the VM's live? I read that i can actually copy it when its powered off. or i maybe wrong. If not then Veeam, Altaro and Unitrends are my options. I will use the cost effective and easy to deploy solution.

Not exactly. Your problem is a lack of knowledge on how virtualization works. Yes, you can power off a VM and then copy the file(s) that represent the hard disk. But that is not a backup. There is more to a VM than that. You can recover from that, but not simply. That type of functionality exists in all hypervisors simply because they are hypervisors.

@nerdydad said in How to backup VMWare VMs?:

Correct. vSphere has no capabilities of backing up natively. Have to use some type of 3rd party software to back up the VMs. Unlike what you can do natively in KVM or XenServer.

KVM and XenServer do not, natively, have anything to fully manage backups either last time I looked.

I've been using scanstate and loadstate from the Windows Automated Installation Kit to go from 7 to 10 and 10 to 10. I like it better than easy transfer because it's command line and scriptable.

You can do a retropi 3 for about $75 if you count the case, SD card and controllers. ROMs are up to you. If you add a small screen, you might bump it to $150.

Or...can i install ESX on a VM of my current VMworkstations?

This may be helpful in trying to put ESXi in a VM - http://www.vmwareandme.com/2015/02/Guide-Install-ESXi-6.0-on-VMware-Workstation-11.html#.WLCPYlXythE/.

One other thing I would suggest is signing up for a free PluralSight subscription. I think you get 14 days for free, and they specifically have a course that will show you how to build a lab using ESXi running as a VM.

Your files will be cut off from you the moment that you leave the company. If they are stored on their Office 365, you will have no access to them. You can't get a personal account and move them. You have to make a backup of them on your own. Then, if you want, you can get an Office 365 personal account and upload them again. But getting an account will not move them over for you.

You should try IP-Address chrome extension which will show your IP address when you click on it's extension icon after adding it into your chrome browser.

I have 2 subscriptions on that account that continues to charge my credit cards....what a pain!

That you can't shut off because they refuse to provide customer service? I would never put a credit card on a Skype account, that's scary.

Call the bank and shut that off. At this point, it's legitimately fraud.

This seems to be incredibly subjective. This really depends on HOW much better, and what they're willing to pay for. I mean, I know an audiophile who can design, build, and setup the entire room with properly proportioned surround sound with speakers that have a "true to sound" quality for several thousand, but something tells me that isn't what you're looking for.

LOL... audiophile and surround sound don't go together 😉

I don't think I agree with that - but I'd have to check definitions to be sure... If you're a movie audiophile... I'd think you'd want surround more.. if you're a music audiophile.. then heck.. mono might be best.. but stereo is the norm.

I'd agree with @scottalanmiller on this one. I've got a 5.1 at home that sounds great. Still, any surround sound system has to modify the original signal.

If you don't have a screen to blast through, drop that center channel and your sound quality instantly improves. That center channel thing is the bane of sound quality.

      For music sure.

Nope, you missed the point. It's better, period.

the problem with that is that most media have a dedicated center channel for dialog. Without that dialog can get muddled or lost.

Then your system is handling it wrong. Anything that is sent to the center channel sounds better when sent to the R and L channels equally. Literally, the center channel cannot improve the sound over stereo, it's not possible as you have no center ear. All the center channel does is break your perfect sound experience and risk colouration and cause reflection interference. In all seriousness, audio physics makes it impossible for a center channel to improve the sound quality.

well, then perhaps I have to find a way to turn off the center channel when using my receiver.. because when the center is simply unplugged, you can barely hear the dialog.

If you go into the receiver and tell it there is no center channel speaker it will output it to both L&R

And then the sound improves because you don't have this weird sound source floating in the middle of your soundstage disconnected from the stage itself.

@Dashrender I am still on-prem but plan on moving to O365 at the beginning of next year (If all things line up). I am using Barracuda's cloud layer, which takes the brunt of it and then have a local appliance that filters inbound and outbound.

NY State Fair had free wifi this year, I'm not sure the model but it was a cisco AP mounted every 400' or so on a tower

Users per AP is also a consideration in this scenario, but not really something anyone cares about for a warehouse or typical office deployment.

My boss said he wants all those projects done at the same time. hmmmmm

Your available time: 40h / week
      Project 1 requires 100% time
      Project 2..require 50-100% each
      Time left: -60 to -120h / week

Easy equation, even C-level should get that. Maybe ask them for 300%+ salary?

Even salary bumps can't give you more time, you still need time to sleep and eat etc.

I did that once during dotcom, but I also got that increased salary. Had a toothbrush, clothes and a bed couch in my office 😉

We did it at NTG, company paid for apartments, on campus housing, drivers to take us between offices, etc.
