OH! LOL. That's very different. But makes way more sense.

Usually. It can be on a pole but it's rather rare.

This is a really significant outage. How many hours has it been?

I filed a paypal dispute for my two Dev 1 and the BigDog 1 instance.

Now gotta figure out how to get some data off of one of them.

They said they expect to be up by 8PM EST.

Somehow you really question how the heck Cloud@cost is running. They are supposedly a fiber provider. They have stated they have two different providers of fiber backbone and they have a wireless backhaul yet, a small outage takes most of them out. Is this running out of someones house? Really. Ever heard of BGP C@C?

Rogers does have some outages but still they are suppose to plan for this.

At least we're not the ones in the ditch having to splice fibers by hand. Been there, done that, not fun. I worked with the fiber guy at my last job, and it took him half a day to get a 6 or 12 (I forget which) strand run straightned out. It was crazy.

I can't imagine what a metro fiber line would be like.

It's really not as bad these days. There are fusion auto splicers that have camera built in for inspections of the splice. I've done it a couple times with underground fiber.

The issue is though that C@C didn't have BGP setup properly to get the subnets on multiple ISP routes or they are lying and don't even have the multiple connections.

Car Crash? So there is only one fiber connection.. No failover. I'm sure different providers are taking different routes so it's unlikely to take out multiples. And most fiber is below ground (at least in the US) unless it absolutely has to be run on the poles over a bridge or something.

Depends on what the car/truck/vehicle-of-doom hit... The local telephone exchange may have had a meet 'n' greet with a drunk driver.
Either way, no network redundancy is an epic fail for a data center.

Perhaps, their service is too cheap?
In all senses of the word 'cheap' and phrase 'too cheap'.

As far as Data Centers go, their product is definitely cheap and definitely NOT inexpensive

The issue appears to be resolved as I can get to my panel but I can't confirm that I can reach my VPS.
For those that are interested, here's a/the(?) outage map that I nabbed.

Two months waiting for the follow up on it, too.

My server is still down too. Twenty four hours and they haven't failed over to anything. This is rather epic. If they weren't an ISP too, it wouldn't seem quite as bad.
