      @scottalanmiller Ok, I think I got it. Per http://bugs.elastix.org/view.php?id=2549:

      Starting with PHPMailer v5.2.7, the default HELO hostname is not set anymore to 'localhost' if not supplied on the Hello() function... This generates that the Elastix remotesmtp configuration checker ends up sending an empty HELO/EHLO command, which makes Gmail (and probably many other SMTP servers) really unhappy.

      A possible solution would be to modify /var/www/html/modules/remote_smtp/libs/paloSantoEmailRelay.class.php on line 156:

      if(!$smtp->Hello()){

      change to:

      if(!$smtp->Hello(getHostname())){

      If you are using the Multi Tenant version the location is /usr/share/elastix/apps/remote_smtp/libs/paloSantoEmailRelay.class.php

      Changed that and it worked. However, whenever I create a new organization and the email is sent to the "admin", I never receive anything... what could it be now? Any ideas? Thanks!

      Yes, the number of people who are out there looking for "whatever is called Elastix" is way more than enough to keep the website and brand name around. Elastix has a huge presence in South America and in LATAM countries in general alone.

      That's an odd answer - especially given they are apparently introducing a new system with Hylafax.

      That is not an odd answer. They have an existing VM infrastructure. Normal business do not look to change core infrastructure every time they look at adding a new VM for some task or another.

      Asking if there is any compatibility issues is a very normal thing that has to be done with ANY system.

      Answer the question that was asked without tossing in craptastical bias.

      Want to toss in the rest of your opinion? Great! Don't lead with it.

      Back to the OP's question. I have never ran any type of 2008R2 Hyper-V servers. I know that Hyper-V prior to 2012 had many issues compared to ESXi. Which is why all of my clients started out on the virtualization path using VMWare.

      I also noticed if I used the *78 to activate DND/*79 to deactivate DND, I can't reverse DND from the soft button because the phone assumes it's already in the desired state. I can activate (on) DND, then turn around and deactivate it.

      Just something to keep in mind, in case anyone was wondering.

      Thanks - I only used it because I've seen it used other places.

      Might be used some places I haven't seen. But in case someone is searching, they would search on FreePBX, not FPBX, I assume. Just in case others are looking for information later.

      I can just picture someone saying "I can't get FPBX to work with my OBFN using a VM on ESXi running on OBR10 local disk." And it makes me chuckle a little.

      I'm confused... So what you're telling me is, in a digital system (and possibly in my Mitel VOIP/SIP system too) that the call control isn't handed off to the phone, but is asterisk it is?

      We used Mitel PBX and IP Phones at the town. Yes they call it a hold but it was basically a parking lot. Are there was a Individual Hold which placed it at the phone (could not remote pick up) or a System Hold which placed it on the PBX's parking lot hold. We just programed the buttons to do the system hold. It's different vendor terminology but it's the same thing.

      So the parking lot # it put it at was always it's own extension? OK that would make total sense... the guys who set it up must have done that then...

      I have never heard of a provider that required a separate trunk for inbound and outbound. that is just crazy.

      So, is this just a Vitelity issue? I know many SIP providers have their subtle differences, and you always seem to find them at the most inopportune moments.

      I setup a C@C FreePBX system 2 weeks ago now.. I'm using Google voice for my SIP trunk, I have a Dev 2 box for it - I think I've invested around $90 in it so far.

      I haven't used it very much though so I'm not sure how the long term sound quality will be. I am planning on trying to use this for my home phone replacement though.

      I need to pickup this up, http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/shb10/angela2.pdf so I have some portable phones at home. They are a bit pricey... but We'll see how they work. Though I am disappointed I have to use their basestation and that the phones don't connect directly to WIFI.

      The direct to WIFI ones are like $300+ each. OUCH!

      Alternatively, they might have some kind of national level disaster mitigation strategy that we know nothing about. It's not our place to judge their business strategies as we are not privy to that information.

      Well, it is our place, as it is part of determining how and when you do business or what type of business with the country. Having the government behave as a Comcast, for example, means that datacenters and datacenter service companies avoid the country and go to other countries entirely for services. It means that critical support systems and banking goes to another country because needed redundancy and expertise is not available. If you are in IT, then the infrastructure and decisions of a country are very much something you have to consider.
