Trying to set a microphone level on a Windows 8.1 machine for a Logitech USB headset. At 100, it has way too much gain and is blowing the sound out. We need to set it to 42 to sound right. If you open the mixer dialogue and set it to 42, it sounds great. But the moment you do anything from making a call, opening an application, even just reopening the mixer dialogue, you can hear it jump to 100 and when you look at the setting, obviously it is 100.

We can't find any way to get Windows to respect the setting and leave it at 42.
