I'm trying to put one or more ports on a specific VLAN, not create virtual interfaces that require Tagged packets.

      Anyone done this?

      Here's my setup.

Remote side will send VLAN 200 tagged packets to port 1, Port 5 will connect to a switch that's VLAN unaware. So any incoming packets on port 5 need to be put on VLAN 200 so they will route to port 1.

You cannot add a VLAN tag at this point. Just route the traffic appropriately.

That's just it.. there's no routing at this level... so I'm not sure I can do what I want here.

i.e. they are connecting to me via a tagged port - port 1. My port 5 is basically just a switch port to Port 1 for the VLAN 200.

I know I can assign all of the switch ports to VLAN 200 as default, so that should handle their traffic.

Then what? the link between the switch and the ER-X are both allowing tagged 200 traffic?
            Is that right?

If it is a flat network it should allowed it as the VLAN on the switches will not know any better. I have on my ER-X Subinterfaces that have VLAN but are not tagged properly so I used my additional port and used it as dedicated port.

How did you dedicate the port to a VLAN instead of making a subinterface on the ER-X?

I just setup the port as untagged on the router. I also have a subinterface VLAN for other phones and that I have the phones tagged already.

i don't have an ERX or ERPoE (units with a switch chip) that I can conveniently access to test.

                      So I cannot speculate further

I think I have it figured out.. when I'm back on that network I'll get a screen shot.

Hope to spend the afternoon testing it, have a few other pieces of gear to setup for it.
