The company doesn't have any trusted IT decision people.... so they hired the auditor to tell them what to do. Sounds like a corrupt auditor.
No, it sounds like they got a salesman and called him an auditor. We can't know, I'm just saying what is the most likely sounding thing.
But it's a problem if you have a CIO and don't trust him. Why have two IT people on staff, one given a CIO title, and you don't' trust him, at all? I mean clearly they can't trust him, but it's obvious that this isn't simply "we can't hire good people." They knew enough to come to SW to ask questions, so they know how to get help. They are choosing not to take that help any further, though.

My neck is stiff, I think I slept weird last night, taking some pain medicine (advil), drinking coffee and performing some system updates.
