Site says starting at $149 MSRP, so I would assume that is for the lowest model UVP. That model is touch screen, but no Bluetooth, WiFi, or video. The UVP-Pro is the same 5" model but has all of that.

Looks like they are going to be releasing their own PBX also? Not clear on that from the phone webpage.

The phone is SIP compliant though and will work on any standard system I would assume.

No PBX suggested anywhere. They have a controller but not a PBX.

I'm anxiously awaiting their new switches. I'm interested in those for sure.

Their new UTM gateway is out mid-August. That looks good too.

We had a large demo of the Mifi products given to use at my last job. They were pretty nice, we put them in all the server rooms to monitor everything. I still kinda wish they'd make proximity/rfid readers that open doors too.

Unclear actually. I assume the same as you though.

@JaredBusch the site says it connects to a PBX. Nothing suggested any call handling through the controller. The managing "like a PBX" suggests only that it hands out the management configs like many PBX do.

Those are really impressive looking. I wonder if running Android on them will not cause a lot of unnecessary complications, though. Those phones will get used for so many different things and be so subject to malware and just junk being loaded onto them. Hopefully the controller allows for some actual management and locking down.

This also means, I supposed, that Ubiquiti has effectively just gone 95% of the way towards being a PC maker. Androids as desktops are already out there, as rare and silly as they are. Put a bigger screen, more memory and a faster CPU in one of these phones, use the BlueTooth to hook up a keyboard and mouse and suddenly you have a full blown desktop for, say, $200! And instead of Active Directory, it has the Ubiquiti controller software.

The guy on SW mentions that it has functionality like a PBX but Ubiquiti doesn't say that.

I have been offline all day so I have not kept up, but the initial posts on the Ubiquiti forums were also questioning this.

Again, I agree with you, but keeping an open mind.

Looks like it WILL be a PBX.

That link clearly states that the SDN will perform the PBX functions.

Where does it state that? I haven't seen anything that suggested that from Uniquiti.

Their main headline item on their site says that the SDN integrates with a PBX. Those features can be external to a PBX. Some PBX vendors don't have vmail, for example.

Thought about that, but will depend on how locked down the android part is.

I want it really locked down hard though because I do not want users to be able to add their own play store accounts to their desk phone.
