Of course, Brazil lacks enforcement. But so does the US. Go to Chinatown in NYC and you'll see cops walking leisurely by giant DVD pirate shops that are openly and publicly pirating and selling movies. The cops literally look the other way. It's a thriving business in the US, just like you hear about the streets of any third world country. Zero efforts to stop piracy. It's so bad they don't even have to pretend it's not pirated or not doing it in plain site. Biggest city in the country, tables selling pirated goods right on the road side.

Really what's the draw to OneDrive for Business? Is it the ability to modify OneDrive documents directly using Word or Excel?

This is huge! What's the process for editing a file that's in OwnCloud with locally install Office?

As I understand it (I've never used ownCloud/NextCloud) either:

install sync client and sync any file locally that you want to edit download the file using the web client, open with Word, edit, save, upload via webclient use WebDav to map a network share

1 allows for the easy propagation of cryptoware files to the server
2 is a huge pain in the rear
3 allows for crypto problems directly on the remote storage

4 Install Collabora and just edit everything on the server, no sync or download. Also, no, I haven't gotten Collabora installed and integrated with NextCloud yet. Not enough time to go troubleshoot.

Sure, but that's not what was asked. He asked about using locally install Office apps.

Yeah, forgot which thread I was replying to, again.

LOL, what is up with you these days?

Trying to do 5 things at once instead of 2 or 3.

Lower your threshold... Settle in at a nice and round 4. 🙂

I'm more interested when will they release the VM/container that will allow users to collaborate and edit files like office 365 on the web.

I played with the WebDav file sharing element inside the desktop software and it was meh.

That's been out for a while. Three months at least.

Samba 4 and samba-tool make getting up and running with AD on Linux pretty quick and easy.

Sounds nice, I'll need to make time to look at this.

Since @Dashrender privately chastised me for trying to test something over RDP, I figured I'd publicly announce that it plays fine when sitting in front of the machine, lol.

      hehe

A minor issue that I'm starting to notice in Windowed mode is that when you move the mouse to the bottom edge of the screen, it doesn't scroll down. Left, right, and top seem to work.

There's also no easy way to ALT+TAB out of it -- even in windowed mode.

I am still not sold on the UniFi line as a complete line.

The switch and AP lines are fine, but the USG router is just too limited.
