I think a lot of times, especially now-days, encryiption is necessary to protect ourselves from all kinds of prying eyes -- including hackers and three-letter agencies.

We can only claim, from a court perspective, to be protecting ourselves from the unsavory. Sadly the courts will probably more often than not side with law enforcement if not for the fact that these protections (think encryption) are needed to protect ourselves from non law unsavory types.

The good thing is there are enough of those to keep us going indefinitely.

Sarah O'Connor is the employment correspondent for the Financial Times and in her own words, she normally tweets "really boring stuff about unit wage costs." On a good day, her Twitter bon mots might get a few dozen retweets. But then she tweeted this: "A robot has killed a worker in a VW plant in Germany".

Well it isn't like we could expect the local law enforcement to have the tools to spy on journalist built at home . It's only reasonable that they buy it from third parties.

I didn't even turn it on. From the description it sounds like a really bad idea. It's like autofiltering that takes more work than real filtering, isn't as reliable, is less predictable and then alerts you anyway completely defeating its own purpose.

Just rebooted 2 more times, no luck. It's a ER-X if that makes any difference.

You have to have offload enabled. A number of things disable the offloading of some packets. Including certain QoS.
