Microsoft Turning On Teams for Office 365 Business, ProPlus Subscribers as Early as July

Microsoft plans to activate its Teams collaboration app for organizations with existing Office 365 Business or Office 365 ProPlus subscriptions starting as early as July 9, according to a Friday announcement.

Unless IT pros take advance action to block the arrival of Teams, the application will get turned on automatically by Microsoft with the arrival of next Office update.

There has been a switch (for a couple of months) in the admin portal to disable the automatic adding of Teams for SFB users, but it got turned on by default. I had to go in and disable it, as we left SFB/Teams for Slack.

Right, but they were typing that sentence to someone. Was it in a logged conversation?

I'm not allowed to search people's e-mails. It might be though

Just saying that someone who was allowed could do that.

@scottalanmiller asked why I would use a custom ISO

He asked why you would... in a situation where it is not necessary. If you need an OS not provided by the platform, that's different.

So, since you are here, have you upgraded a Vultr-provided Fedora 29 instance to Fedora 30? Just curious if you have had any issues.

I have, many of them. And no issues. We have many instances that have been upgrades far more. Like from Fedora 25 to 26 to 27 to 28 to 29 and are now on 30, no issues. Vultr stock will not hold you back from doing any normal tasks. It just has a few extra things added in so that you aren't missing wget or an integration when you need it.

OK. Good to know. Not sure why that EDAC skx: Can't Get tolm/tohm error started after upgrading two instances to 30.

@zachary715 That might have added to it. I think it was possibly more general. Relating to VPS, generally.

Had an issue with Excel that I posted about here. Large portions of sheets were just greyed out and wouldn't re-paginate. Re-imaged the laptop twice. Once with a newer version of Windows 10. Updated drivers and BIOS. New RAM. Nothing ever fixed it. Replaced the laptop with another identical model/spec 2 weeks ago and it seems to have resolved it. Also had to get the mobo replaced on that older one, due to constant blue screens and fan malfunction errors. Maybe it won't have that problem now? Who knows.

yeah - sounds like my situation for sure - only I have replaced the computer at least 3 times already, and yet... the problems keep coming.

I'm wondering if @dafyre idea about power could be the issue?

There is a condenser for the IT AC unit right outside her office. I'm sure the power runs through the wall near where her computer sits. I moved the computer away from the outside wall a few years ago, requiring installing longer cables for monitors, keyboards, etc. Yet the problems continue, granted The computer only moved maybe 4 feet from that wall.

I could maybe get her computer 6 feet away if I completely reconfigure her desk, though I'm sure she won't like that, or likely allow it.

No wifi? At least to test?

I think I had seen that one. Then, I remember having a discussion about it where the consensus was to use the stock ones and I was surprised, because I had heard the opposite. If only I could remember or find the thread.

@wrx7m I would try to create a new instance with their image of 29 and upgrade to 30 to see if it works. If that doesn't work then I'd try to re-create what you are running on a custom iso and see if you can upgrade that successfully.

I can try the upgrade of a stock instances to see what happens. If not, I can just start at 30 and install and configure it as needed. Then snapshot it and make the necessary customization. Just like I did to get these 4 servers.

@wrx7m well, you have to be realistic. That's not a question that they can provide support for. It's not a Vultr issue, they can't start being system admins for instances. They don't have the staff, experience, or access for that, and their business model doesn't accommodate the cost. The cost of system admin is 100x the cost of providing a VM. Or more.

Totally. I didn't think they would be able to help, and wasn't thinking of involving them until someone suggested it in this thread. I thought maybe they would say that you can't upgrade one of our Fedora 29 instances to 30 because the virtual machines will complain about drivers or something.
