      Net RunnerN

Currently using ZenDesk (over 1 year already) to support my customers (a bunch of different companies). Pretty simple and convenient interface and nice mobile app (i am using the one for android).

Takes me around 50$/per IT guy/per month (4 engineers in total). Alerting, SLAs and most bells and whistles one might need - pretty happy so far.

I had some confusion because of the age of the old CSR. It doesn't line up with the correct dates. I'll edit my original post when I know more.

Bullet dodged. Are you going to replace the Mobo or clone the system to a new box?

It's such an old PC we are going to recommend just replacing it

Yup, I prefer wget but have mostly stopped using it (or installing it.) I learned wget before I knew of curl (this is all long ago.) Today, I just assume that I have curl and wget is nearly never there.

Just got another call from Comodo from an Unknown Number. Same rep, answered (because I'm stupid) and asked him to take my email and phone number off the list and they we won't be considering any Comodo products in the future. I like Comodo as a company but man that's some bad salesmanship.

We had the same experience. Product was okay, but the company was impossible.

Pretty much everyone knows that a graduate degree isn't needed to teach little kids. But what they never stop to realize is that they took teachers, one of the largest job categories, and took an average of 1.5 - 2 years off of the career span of everyone in the field without increasing salaries. So entry level, day one teachers are older, more in debt, but have no more per-year earning potential than before, but have a bit less time to earn their retirement before getting old and wanting to retire. This makes it seem like more jobs are created, when in fact, it's just that you've reduced the pool of available workers by a few percentages.

@scottalanmiller said in Witnessing Sexual Harassment:

Correct, it does not. Your observation is irrelevant to that decision.
If she felt like a victim, she's have reported it. Did she? If not, she was placating you. Maybe she felt you were harassing her and wanted to make you happy. We don't know. What we know is... only she can decide if she might be a victim.
Being uncomfortable around someone is not being a victim. My wife is uncomfortable going into restaurants because of all the people. She is not a victim. Even if they come up and talk to her, which also makes her visibly uncomfortable.
You are using lots of descriptions that make it sound one way, but when you actually read what you are saying, we can't know if anything bad happened. Did he make an advance? Doesn't sound like it. Did he do anything that isn't culturally normal in a lot of cultures? Doesn't sound like it. Sexual harassment is a specific thing, and nothing you describe is enough to know if that happened and her feeling like it happened isn't enough, either.

+100 on this, also +1 for making me learn a new word (placating)

Dude @wirestyle22 you want to see "Victims" come to MSFF Mowasah Hosptial In Marka Amman Jordan (Facial Reconstruction unit), I will show you victims, you wont belive what will you see, mostly children, and this is after one or two operations already done, and I dont understand how they can be happy or smile. they didnt choose to have their half face wiped, and dont get me started on tissue expander ball that they put in their faces and how they impant shit in different places in there faces and body so it can grow to remove them later and place it back...

Victim you say, she has rights and rules and she can lawsuit... pfff so what if she gets fired. better to have pride and use her rights.. what rights do those kids have, what future do they have left. If you live in good country and you have propper rights already established and applies to you and your not using them= your not victim, your just naive.

In thinking about this - I mentioned adding additional domains to the search suffix list.

While this is doable for a few PCs, or if you are using DHCP, I was thinking -

For the primary things you'll be searching for by shortname from the 'other' domains, create cname records in the local domains pointing to the real host in the real domain.

      Example

      The DB server is DB1.fire.randomcity.com
A user in water.randomcity.com needs to access the DB server.
Create a cname in the water.randomcity.com DNS server called DB1 that points to DB1.fire.randomcity.com
This allows the user in the water domain to connect to 'DB1' and they will be pointed to the server via DNS over to the server in the fire domain. No change to the client's DNS search suffix list required.

This does assume that there is not a server called DB1 in the water domain.

Typically you would use a spectrum analyzer to look at the frequency range in question. Problem is most of them are expensive. We use a product from Ekahau when doing site surveys to determine wifi in use and interference from things like microwave ovens:
      https://www.ekahau.com/products/spectrum-analyzer/overview/
I believe we paid over $6000 for it though.
There was a cheap one out there that worked well I'll see if I can find it.
Other option is a software defined radio that can tune the 2.4GHz band, coupled with a radio program like SDR# (pronounced SDRSharp) that can scan the band in question. You look on the scan as its happening for peaks in the frequency range; those are either your wifi AP's or other devices causing interference. @gjacobse may have some info on one; the one I have doesn't go up that high in frequency.

Barnabas Health: Just standard desktop support, no frills. Printers broken, internet explorer won't load this website, imaging, etc.

Garden State Foot & Ankle: I was hired to build a server for them to house X-rays. I was a resource to the owner. He would come up with things he wanted to do and then I was the one to explain how to do them. Desktop support, cabling, purchasing, etc. I honestly was not called very often, the owner was and is a friend of mine who is a podiatrist.

The Arc: I was the director of IT. I was responsible for every appliance, server, workstation, etc. All devices. I handled all of the purchasing in relation to IT. I was the sole IT person covering 33 sites all over ocean county (very large county).

Will continue to update throughout the day. I have some calls coming in

YMCA: I am the point of escalation for all of the servers and network. Not a lot has happened after my initial walk-through. I found some incorrect entries here and there which were fixed.

City of Trenton: TBD, big list.

Note: I added some of the stuff @scottalanmiller said to do in my lab to train my resume. I am in the process of doing some of that at home

You will see that status if replication had been failing long enough to get into critical status. Even if it is now replicating again. I will show critical for a few more replication cycles.

That is why you need to open the full status and check what it says.
