RE: Zabbix - Useful Items and Graphs
So you can install Zabbix on a linux server and then install a windows agent on the workstation to track the data? That's fun.

@IRJ I wouldn't have the foggiest either man. That's what learning is though!
I am getting a little further each time now. Maybe this next install attempt will work
One thing I noticed with Linux is most guides have you run commands but don't explain what the commands are actually doing very well. I end up looking up every command that is run in a guide and create a definitions list for myself so I can learn the concepts of what I'm actually doing and why. I try to compare guides too and ask questions so I can determine what best practice really means with this stuff.

Meraki provides an easier to see map of where the device is as well as remote application installation and management.
Apple configurator is used to lock down the device and get everything to a base level.
Then use meraki profiles to lock the devices down even more, so they don't walk away
How does it do that when out of the building? Some software on the device?
Meraki MDM
What's the cost for that?
I imagine anyone with more than 1 or 2 devices to manage is already running something of the sort.
It is not completely free. You get 100 devices free and that only applies if you aren't paying. If you get to 101 devices, you are paying for 101 devices, not 1. I just researched this recently. Everyone who has 400 free devices was grandfathered in and they are no longer doing that. It's like $10-$12 per device per month or something. Getting a quote costs you nothing.

I agree mostly with what you guys are saying, but that specific coffee scenario isn't what you think it is. I thought the exact same thing.

RE: CentOS 7 File Server (samba). Do you know easy GUI to manage ?
@openit said in CentOS 7 File Server (samba). Do you know easy GUI to manage ?:
Hi All,
I required to run a file server to have IT stuff, ISO files repository for XenServer and few other requirements.
So, I was thinking of FreeNAS vs CentOS Samba server, I believe IT pros around here will suggest CentOS option, so I have shortlisted to CentOS.
This CentOS server is going to be run on XS 7.
Now, I am for GUI package to setup on CentOS 7 to manage easily, do you know one which is easier and stable ? I am not willing to play with Terminal as of now.
I know Webmin, not used much, I know it have Samba things to manage, but I was thinking of only File Server manager.
Thanks for suggestions
Learn the terminal. Webmin isn't always going to be an option and neither will a GUI. This reminds me of @scottalanmiller's
vim
vs.nano

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
So my friend has over 31,000 pictures on her computer. I told her she needs to back all of that stuff up even if its just an external hard drive. She needs redundancy. She didn't do it. Now her hard drive broke and she's having a freak out. I helped her but when I said we need to go purchase an external hard drive she still refused.
File this under reasons why I should charge an arm and a leg for my services. Maybe If it costed more for me to fix it she would actually listen to my advice. Sigh.

It's a copy backup. That's why this has been happening for over a year. It needs to be either a full backup or incremental to truncate.

I'll take the unlimited budget, please. Someone said it makes it too easy. I like easy. Almost feels like cheating? Perfect, I'll take all of that, too. Unlimited money, so that I can set my job up well enough to practically do itself... challenge accepted!!
That was @scottalanmiller who said it would be to easy.
If the budget is unlimited I'd just hire @scottalanmiller himself at his highest rate and then get him to do it

If you are small enough, JumpCloud is completely free.
We are not that small, unfortunately.
Well then the answer should be obvious... you need to downsize.
