Yeti theme seems pretty good, its not SO white now. But the ML logo on the top left looks a funky.

Sadly i cant find any option to make everything bigger, as mentioned i blow it up to 150% in my browser and i think it looks significantly better. Even at 125% its a large improvement IMO.

Trying other themes, but it still look to behave the same. Doesn't use the full window. I have this issue with other communities as well, just i actually post on this one so i figured i would mention it.

    • Excessive white space on ML

One thing i noticed while browsing the community is that on 1920x1080 there is a lot of excess white space to the right/left and the smaller text.

      0_1472060238605_1.PNG

It would be nice if there was a setting to make it use more of the screen and a slightly larger text.

      ie..

      0_1472060289377_2.PNG

Currently i scale it up with the browser to 150% but it gets annoying when switching to different devices.

Slightly off topic, but what software do you use to upload to BackBlaze B2?

Don't forget the modded ones, allows you to catch pokemon and hatch eggs without ever leaving your couch.

I meant the modem side. I use a Motorola Surfboard instead of the BS from comcrap. I didn't realize that fiber was just an ethernet handoff, that negates my question kinda. I have all the firewall/router stuff to connect to the handoff.

      But that isn't always true.

Are you just getting Internet? Then it might be true.

Just internet, no TV. I'm a cordcutter... Kodi is my best friend.

Then you can probably just get an ethernet drop like we have here at work.

They'll run it into a box in your house, and then the ethernet from there.

I started with internet only and it was still run with coax into the house. It was not a ethernet drop off.

At work it is, don't know why there is a difference.

      Maybe bussiness vs home?

Have FiOS at work and home.

At work, its a ethernet hand-off. Plug it into your firewall and you're done.

My home installation comes to a box on the side of the house as fiber then coax into the house. I had to purchase their router for like $100. For the tv, you rent their equipment. If i remember right, the dvr is 15 bucks and a standard hi-def box is 9 bucks per month.

I looked into purchasing my own receivers but verizon doesn't sell them. Tivo receivers work but from my research it takes years to start actually saving unless you get a sweet price on used equipment that hast lifetime service. You still have to pay 5 bucks to verizon for a CableCARD to use a tivo.

    • RE: Simple but Effective Packet Loss Monitor?

To install one of the larger monitoring packages just for some simple packet loss monitoring seems like overkill. Especially since its like 10 lines to script this.

    • RE: Web Application VS Windows Application

Long thread for me to go through on my phone.. But another option since you mentioned vb.net that may have already been mentioned is to publish it as a clickonce application. I use that on a project and it works well.

In my case Click once does not need administrator right to "install" and handles updates automatically.

How many tabs do you have open at a time?

More than 20. But that's less than a casual user. Tabs open is one of those things that power users do less, not more, than casual users.

      really?

I probably have 10+ tabs... but my users are abnormal if they have more than 3.

      Thats my experience as well.

I purchased a 512GB scandisk SSD for $120 during some sale. At that price they are throwaways. I only bought it so i could improve performance on some test VM's on my laptop.

RAM won't improve system performance nearly as much as an SSD will, assuming you already have 4 GB of RAM, in a typical Office environment.

I find that even for browsing these days, I need 6GB. 4GB just can't do it.

But you are a power user. From what i see common office workers tend to rarely need more then 4GB.
