had a bit of a boozey christmas few days.
worst I felt was the day after I didn't drink anything.

finally got around to cleaning the 4WD after our 6 week trip.
only got back from that 3.5 months ago.
      can't rush a good job.

@travisdh1 I recently looked at changing from LP, but I found they were priced similarly to everyone else.

I'll change my master & banking pwds, but don't think I'll worry about all my pwds.

We're the same almost, except our temps are degrees celcius (38=100).

@gjacobse said in Corrupted file, unless ...:

User profile is likely damaged,… kill the profile or Nike the computer…

But that is a first read guess.

Either option is most likely a quicker fix than identifying & fixing the problem.

      Thanks for the input.

    • Corrupted file, unless ...

      Got this problem at work:

      Got a laptop.

      Windows 10 and Office 2016.

If I download an Office file, (mostly just used Excel and Powerpoint files so far), the files won't open in the application, a warning pops up saying the file is corupt.

I've done a 'Repair' on Office.

If I copy the downloaded file from the Downloads folder, to a usb stick and open it from the usb stick, the file will open without error.

If I copy the downloaded file from the Downloads folder, to the Desktop, and open it, I get the error.

If I copy the file from the Downloads folder, to the usb stick, don't open it on the usb stick, but copy it to the Desktop and open it from the Desktop, it opens.

But all that happens with files that have been emailed to this user as well.

I've checked System and Application event logs, nothing looks out of the ordinary.

In summing up, if the user receives an Office file via email or downloaded from the web, it generates a 'File is Corrupt' error message when opened. But once the file has been copied & pasted back, the file will open without error.

      Thanks for any help.

    • RE: JAMF - Thoughts?

Yep, I manage 4 schools using Jamf Education.

It's not bad, it's reasonably easy to work your way around, the support doco I find, is quite good. The tech forum is lively.

Take a look at Mosyle as well.

There's another called Miradore, which I used a few years ago, which I thought was well laid out and thought through.
