@scottalanmiller Because it's the lastest LTS release. Isn't using LTS best practice?

No, it's a bad practice. Using something with "long term support" is a good practice, but with Ubuntu it is just a naming thing for marketing purposes. Even Canonical themselves do not recognize it as an LTS. It's just letters that they slap on every fourth release to make it sound like an enterprise product like RHEL. It isn't. Ubuntu is a rolling release will full support only for the latest build. So sticking to LTS is just "not updating" in this case. One of the many reasons that Ubuntu isn't that good. It's not "bad", but it isn't up to par.

Ubuntu is like Fedora, you always want to be on the latest unless there is a compatibility issue. You would never intentionally use an LTS release unless you are doing something like MongoDB which only releases for certain versions. And the answer there is not to use Ubuntu but to use CentOS which is kept up to date.

If you want a true LTS, Ubuntu is not an option for you. RHEL and SLES are the only enterprise long term support options in the Linux world.

@scottalanmiller Why aren't ubuntu LTS releases trully considered as having long term support? I usually use Centos but I do have several Ubuntu LTS boxes and from their documentation they appear as having long term support.

Also wondering, for people who have had compatibility issues, was this with the modern XML formats or the old ones? Microsoft's move to XML formats is what really changed things.

We've had compatibility issues with both formats, old and new. Sometimes they are barely noticeable but other time they are pretty severe. For example on this simple presentation, Impress on the right, changes the size of the title. Considering the page is simple text and a couple lists, it's quite strange is could have the title be the same size as the original.

Outside of school, though, do any of us know non-IT people using Excel for budgets?

Also for lists, things like that.

Yeah many people could use something like Evernote or Onenote, but they still keep track of stuff using excel spreadsheets or word documents.

Why do so many home users need an office suite at all? I mean I realize that they tend to and I know why I always have, but for normal home users it feels like a strange thing for them to actually use. What are people generally doing with it?

In Mexico, most people think their computer is incomplete if they don't have an office suite installed. They easily spend 98% of their time using only a web browser but since many people down here pirate software, especially MS Office, why not have it installed. They actually believe its free.

Aguascalientes, Queretaro , and Leon. Medium size cities with most of the things you can find in big cities such as Monterrey and Guadalajara, but without the traffic.

As for the recommendation, my wife only drinks tequila "derecho" and she really loves driking Herradura Plata =), not too strong not to soft and doesn't give her a hangover.

I am not of the belief that there is any tequila like this 🙂

      LOL, what does that mean?

Most people don't like having tequila "derecho" they consider it too strong, that's why most people having tequila usually combine it with something.

You can drink tequila (actually anything ) however you prefer that could be with or without ice, "derecho" or mixed, but down here in Mexico we actually never drink it with ice when having it "derecho" from our "caballito".For us, ice dilutes the flavor and regular icecubes don't actually fit in our standard "caballitos".

We either drink it just by itself or with lemon and salt. Something like this:
