    • RE: The Motivations of Sales

I think it is very important for both parties to have a clear understanding of their obligations in a sales situation. Ultimately the buyer is in the position of power, and as a decision maker, they have a responsibility to themselves, or their organizations to do their due diligence. You’d be surprised at how often this is not the case and the buyer is actually dissatisfied when expected to understand their own needs. Salespeople without integrity aside, this mentality is what leaves people open to exploitation. It gets complicated when a buyer doesn’t properly understand their own needs and it’s left up to the seller to act on behalf of both parties. Obviously, they won’t want to leave food on the table.

Similarly, the salesperson has their own responsibilities. Obviously, they exist to generate cash flow but they must ask themselves if their sales process adds any value to the customer. A good salesperson has a duty to ask the right questions and fully understand the needs of their prospects. If they don’t align properly with your needs, then it should be no surprise that they didn’t close the sale.

As a buyer, it’s important to note that meeting needs is only an obligation of sales if it encourages sales. If more sales are made by selling what the customer does not need, salespeople are obligated to let the customer buy. At the end of the day, it’s entirely up to the customer to determine what their need is, and one could define the agreement of a sale meeting their need by the fact that they completed the sale.

@QuixoticJeremy said in Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play:

@RestoronixSean I can honestly say that I haven't touched it. I've seen the hype and I've been tempted but I've stayed away from it for the most part. Can you give us a brief summary of the game? Is it a survival type where you are collecting gear to eventually take out other players, like a RUST-esq situation?

"Up to 100 players parachute out of an airplane onto a huge island, where they must immediately arm themselves with any weapons they can scavenge from its abandoned towns, factories, and military bases. Over the course of each match, the size of the battlefield rapidly shrinks, as does its pool of survivors as players begin taking each other out. This imposes an increasingly player-dense playground for shoot-outs. By the end of each game, the last player standing or the last team standing wins."

      http://m.ign.com/articles/2017/04/18/why-over-1-million-people-are-playing-playerunknowns-battlegrounds

You have many intense conflicts during each match so the build-up to a victory ends up being just that much sweeter. Every game ends up being a different story and I've found myself reliving the craziest matches in conversations with my squad members for days afterwards. It's a ton of fun. If you end up getting it and want someone to play with hit me up!

@wirestyle22 said in Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play:

@RestoronixSean The only complaint I have with that game is that it is horribly optimized. I have not played it in awhile and I think it was early release so that is sort of expected with a game like that

Oh yeah, the optimization is terrible right now. I have a beastly new rig and still had to play around with my graphics settings to get the frame rate where I wanted it. I'm pretty optimistic about the games future though. It sounds like they are committed to having a polished, complete game on PC before they move on to console. So far it seems like they are on the right track with a strong team in place. Selling over 4 million copies in 3 months probably helps as well.

@NerdyDad You're going to attempt to run the Plex app through your Smart TV or you're going to have a device running it that is connected to your TV?

Plex App on smart TV. Trying to cut out as many dependencies as I can as I am wanting the family to utilize this more. I have to try to keep it as easy as possible for them to use if I am wanting them to use it.

      Is this a Roku TV?

Nope, its an LG. They have their own store, which is mediocre, but does have a PLEX app for the TV. I'm willing to try it out before i go for another device taking up another HDMI port.

In my experience, every smart TV I've ever seen runs like hot garbage. I would seriously recommend buying a Roku 3. I not only have a Plex server but I also have a Visio Smart TV and still opted to get the Roku. Never looked back.

+1 for the Roku. I absolutely love that thing. It works so much better than any of my Smart TVs.

I'm officially addicted to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. I haven't had this much fun playing a multiplayer online with friends in a LONG time.

Looks like I shot myself in the foot by using a VPN when I ordered my European SNES classic...

Hopefully I can still snag a US one when they go up for preorder.

I just pre-ordered the European one. It says no shipping to the US but I read to just ignore that. My order seems to have gone through just fine... so far anyway. We'll see if it ships.

Is it getting an official Star Fox 2 release? That's huge.

    • RE: Laptop suggestions/advice, or connections for purchase in DFW

This is a really unorthodox suggestion, but you could have your friend check some pawn shops if you think they're knowledgeable enough to not get burned. They'll have to wade through plenty of trash, but I know several people that have ended up with some great deals by going this route. Just make sure to thoroughly inspect, test, and ask about the return policy. I actually picked up an HP ProBook 4730s in like new condition a few years back for $150, and aside from recently having to replace the fan, it's still going strong. They actually had it on the shelf for $300, but shops know electronics lose value quickly, and cash is king. (refurbs of that model were going for about $900 at the time)

      Good luck, and happy hunting!
