@NerdyDad oh no, it is THE WORST place to work ANYWHERE. No one works there that can find work anywhere else. Those polls don't mean at all what you think that they mean. People who work at Wegmans are SO thankful that someone, anyone hires them and doesn't fire them because they are generally unemployable. Some of the least skilled, least motivated, lowest paid people you will ever find. Every internal position in the company comes up from cashier - so they filter out anyone with the slightest motivation or qualifications because if you know anything or are just a hard worker, someone else will have paid you more when you were a teenager. So everyone, in every position in the company, is someone who depends on cashier experience for their job... think about that!

I've literally never worked in any place so universally unhappy and unqualified. It's horrific. They have to bring in consultants for everything because their internal staff can't do it and they can't keep consultants because people just quit and leave constantly.

I actually use those reputation lists as a guide of where not to work. Once you think about how a poll like that works, it really opens your eyes.

It's based on surveys that are monitored by the company and you can lose your job (and no one else will hire you) if you don't rank it highly.

But this poll doesn't look at employee satisfaction. It is focusing on customer satisfaction, including those in the corporate workforce.

      Had Sushi for lunch today.

      Simple and pretty cheap.

      Cheap sushi in America? Ewww.

We have a good grocery store named Wegmans (that started here in rochester) it's actually really good, and well priced.

It's not super awesome sushi but it is actually pretty good. Wegmans prices are awesome and the sushi is made fresh right there in store.

Maybe there is something actually to Wegman's.

....hungry but also broke... And hoping to buy a car this weekend..

How does that work? If you have money for a downpayment, I would choose food and delay car another half month or month.

Maybe he's hoping there will be some french fries under the passenger's seat or something....

Lunch was some lovely sesame marinated lean pork over rice. But dinner last night was some grilled alpaca tenderloin. Highly recommended if you can find it. So tender and delicious.

Alpaca? Interesting. Management has been trying to find something more exotic to sell to their customers. Beef, pork, and chicken can only get so much buzz.

HD movies are not $15 until they have been out.

Some of us wish to watch things before they are a year old.

Also, this is not even available in 4k.

Except for just...kids...why would you want to watch Trolls in 4k?

Something action (Transformers, Marvel, etc.), absolutely 4k is the way to go. Animated...eh, not so much.

yeah - I'm annoyed that 4K movies are $30 a pop for either bluray or digital content. A movie is barely worth $15 for me, but $30, no way!

      Where are you paying that?

that's the thing, I'm not. But where have I seen that price - Walmart, Target, Best Buy.

Try Amazon. Welcome to the Internet age.

Again, until they hit $15 or less, not really interested.. and frankly, even then I'm not, as I mostly just want Vudu, and they don't offer the specials on new/current stuff. So I'm sometimes forced to buy the physical media in the store/online, then add the code to my account, and sell the disk (I don't rip it).

I buy HD movies at like $15 regularly.

Yeah, I can get HD movies at the price all day long. But not 4K. I'm talking specifically 4K are normally $30 to start.

I don't even worry about buying 4k as I don't have the equipment to properly watch 4k. Blu-Ray will suffice for me for now.

But you still own access to the movie while selling the disc to somebody else.

I only buy movies in disc format... than convert to what format I want it in.

Done that before, trying to persuade the wife to looking at either Plex or XBMC, but she's not too impressed with either one. She's not impressed with watching movies stored from a hard drive. She feels that it is still piracy, even though I tried to explain to her that we are not selling or giving away copies to the Internet and that it is still staying in our possession and that we have the right to backup the movie for archival purposes. Still not working.

Does she feel that way about watching television or DVDs? If not, why not?

Absolutely not. She has no problem buying a movie and watching it at home or just watching general TV. Shoot. We have VHS tapes of movies that they recorded 20-30 years go off of the TV (Yes, I do still have a VCR.) I try to bring that example up as to how is that better than ripping the DVD to data?

I have a 3D tv. I really like it and I've used it for several 3D movies. So far, the best ones are animated, like Nightmare Before Christmas and Monsters vs Aliens. It's interesting that there's such a dichotomy in 3D - we all want to see 3D movies in the theater but not at home? I'm all for the 3D experience.

Tried 3D before and had to take off the glasses about half way through as it was about to give me a headache. Wife can't stand 3D movies as she gets motion sick pretty easily.

But with the evolution of technology still increasing, I am starting to believe that discs in general will eventually become a thing of the past.

I don't think there is a consumer market 4k player yet, is there? The only sources I know of are streaming services like Netflix and Prime.

I thought discs went away years ago.

Nope, still selling discs. Mainly in combo packs, such as the DVD, Blu-Ray, and a digital download for $20-25 per movie.
