@dafyre I love the brave browser. There are a few internal sites that I can't use it with, but everything on the Internet works great with it.

Installing printers in Fedora 29 Linux
Everybody probably knows how to install a printer on Windows. How does one install a printer on Fedora 29 Linux? What are the packages and dependencies required?
I would prefer to do this in one of 3 ways:
- SaltStack deployment from Salt-Master to salt-minion.
- In bash
- Via GUI
in that order of preference.
I can't get away from printers, so I need to automate it for certain people to get certain printers. Shipping people gets shipping printers, HR people gets HR printers, Accounting people gets accounting printers...you get the drift. I want to automate it with Salt states, put the printer commands in the salt state and then apply the salt state to the minion. If I can't d it in salt, then script it and execute the script with salt and Salt SSH. Otherwise, I would need to do it by hand.
Example device would be a Xerox C60-70.

Wow
??
Don't ask.... I just had to ban someone on a Facebook group (I got called a Whore and various other nasty thing). Someone asked a tech question about setting up a server for their new business. They don't need a server but he quoted out a Massive Dell server with SUPER expensive licensing etc. I back tracked the conversation and asked why they thought they needed a server. They need backups(sold them on Back blaze) and a place to store files (dropbox) and a CRM (zoho). Just saved them mega money. He got pissed off that a woman should never give IT advice when they have no clue.....
It doesn't matter what your gender is. If you can do IT, then you're proficient in my book. I'm sure there are plenty of women out there smarter than me in IT. Just blows me away that there are other men that are just narrowminded like this just because you were born a certain gender.
I run into this at least on a weekly basis. We have clients who will try to go around me on all kinds of stuff to talk to one of the guys. It's the nature of being a women in IT (ok honestly it's the nature of being a female in the work world).
Yea, but it shouldn't be so...
I would love to say that it's because of your Marketing background, but unfortunately I see that Snubs sees and says the same thing.

Put a RouterBoardOS RB260GS at each house and use a free ddns service. $35each and yo're done.
Or a Ubiquiti Edge Router Lite will work too, just more expensive.
I use the Ubiquiti ERL for IPSec into my house from the office, my phone, and my laptop. Love it.All more work and more money than easy and free.
Easy is relative. $70 for the two is only $10 more than he is currently paying for one year. Starting with month 15, it is free!
$70 for what you are proposing with more hardware and equipment that could fail and I have to maintain in my house that my wife won't like because its more "junk" versus ZeroTier which is free, software only, and my wife won't have to see it.
Hmmm....Decisions, decisions.

RedLogik
Oh nice. Congrats!
Thanks. It's nice to be getting out of IT, too. Time for a change of pace.
So not doing stuff for NTG or any IT at all any more?
Mostly out of IT. Operations and Engineering now. The CIO of the new company will report up to me, though.
What I find hilarious is that you're going to know straight off if your CIO is totally BS'ing you or not, just based on your background in IT. Just tell me they're not getting their CIO from SW please.

Really wanting to get this but is thinking it would be wise to ask the wife for approval first before I go and blow $100 in Amazon credit.

Heading home now. Long day with 2 soccer games ( lost both games but more working on teamwork and how to play the game) then Six Flags for a company picnic. Everybody had fun. We're both soaked and burnt.

Finally got some work done on the bathroom floors this weekend. All that's left is to cut out a hole for the AC, screw the floor down, and start laying out linoleum. I can't make up my mind if I want to do a single large sheet or some peel & stick type linoleum... What do y'all prefer handling?
Peel & Stick is what I would suggest as you can easily replace small sections as needed instead of the whole floor.

Sigh finally back home (on a client site all day for meetings).
My week continues to suck the big one. My sister-in-law was attacked this morning in Brooklyn (Park Slope area), on her way to the sub way. Multiple fractures of her jaw, and a severe concussion. They did a number on her she is so swollen from the beating that they can't do surgery till it goes down.
This has just been one heck of a week for ya. Hope she gets better.

Trying to install nginx but getting errors:
I have attempted installing with dependencies, but just not understanding this error. I'm being a total noob right now.
Apache wasn't installed at some point was it? That could be hogging port 80.
Not sure about apache. UCRM is installed at port 80.
@travisdh1 said in What Are You Doing Right Now:
@nerdydad What Distribution and version? Also, any custom repos? That just should not happen on a standard install of anything, uck.
Debian 9 with Ubiquiti's UCRM (ports 80 & 81) and UNMS (8080 & 8443) both installed by their install scripts.

In more than one way. The first thing I started trying to do is convert the fractions.
I was thinking multiplication first. But those are pretty easy.
You guys are cracking me up.

Eggs at Aldi.... four dozen for $1.96.
That's expensive. Eggs are $0.17c a dozen here (at Aldis)!
17 cents for a dozen eggs... damn... it's been a while since I bought eggs, but I think I paid well over a $1 for a dozen the last batch I bought.
Yeah. It's absurd (but I'm not complaining). Makes it easier to justify an egg sandwich every morning for breakfast. Just need to get another pack of Hawaiian sweet rolls and I'm set for a day or two.
My dad went out and got about almost a dozen egg-bearing chickens that will produce an egg about every 1-2 days. All he has to do now is buy feed for the chickens, give them a hen house, move the hen house every once in a while, and water them every once in a while. I have no idea how much chicken feed costs or how long it lasts though.
My parents have had chickens for a bit more then a decade. Being in upstate NY they generally stop laying in the winter so you lose out on 3-5 months of laying but you still have to buy them feed. I'm not convinced it's cheaper at that rate but my daughter loves to watch them and they do keep the bugs down around the yard.
Eggs are $49 a dozen down here.
49 dollars for a dozen eggs? Where are you the Antarctic?
He's buying eggs from the golden goose.

So I can't just up my post count and automagically hang out with the cool kids?
