    • RE: Netflix Raising Prices But Adding Content

(Man have I been busy, hi all!)

I would happily pay a bit more for Netflix if it kept fresh content for my rare binge-watching sessions. On a funny note HBO Go is similar to Netflix as far as signing in on remote devices; I actually borrowed my mothers login since I don't watch cable (streaming and Blu-Ray house).

@scottalanmiller I actually did drop Hulu for the ads recently.

I think that it would be pretty cool. Putting a person into chronological context.

You could have a "play" button and a speed control. Watch events unfold over time.

Pictures, videos, posts, audio.... All playing back at a relational rate to when they happened.

      I like this. gears turning

I like the fine print at the top: "Mac OS X Mavericks is also a *nix, and also vulnerable to the Bash bug."

On a side note we are no longer participating in SpiceWorks for the time being, so please reach me here or just give me a ring and I can get you in touch with sales/support/guy-in-the-monkey-suit.

you know this is probably possible at a lightweight level through node.js and the google search API. maybe.

Be right back, putting up kickstarter. 😉 @scottalanmiller

That'll be my next move. 🙂

Any guess what that would cost? Lol

      Say 6mos startup window?
      $150k for something presentable?
-$40k 6mo colo server rentals (need some horsies under the hood)
      -$10k Google personnel bribes
-$90k for 4-6 peeps to take off work for 6mos
$10k misc hardware, pizza, and beer/soda

I'm sure they meant unknown to the masses.

Am I missing something, or isn't this something like a supersized Facebook?

I think this would be a service that does it for you instead of the manual posting. It's like a meta-Facebook.

With the entire internet; kind of like a windows explorer for your entire online life.

EDIT: not the entire internet, just forums, facebook, etc. haha

This conversation made me have to have pizza at work since I was working late and they catered.

      I went to Applebee's tonight.

I'm not a fan of their food, but their happy hour? Ridiculous.

Cowboy burger with smokey mayo instead of the BBQ sauce. You can thank me later.

I'll thank you now; I never liked their BBQ sauce so i think that might actually be enough to turn that frown upside down. (Technically speaking.)

So, what about something where you can manage your online history? I mean obviously you cannot remove anything technically, but for most average people it's quite possible to edit/remove old forum posts, accounts, etc.

Honestly I'm sure there's registrations for all sorts of things I haven't used in years across my emails that I'd like to peek at.

      (In brainstorming mode.)

Yeah. Pretty hypothetical. I think a basic playback history machine is enough for now. Being an aggregator is one thing. Being a "manage your life" thing is another.

Plus, I'm sure there's already a few thousand "manage your online presence" click-baits taking up that niche haha.

    • RE: Gunnar Glasses - Thoughts?

I've thought about it for my home office, but I don't think I could pull off the tint in public/work without getting 90's Matrix cracks.

As far as I know they're just an anti-reflective coating and tint; so you're only getting the light from the monitor and not what's being reflected off of it, and the tint is for more warm visibility (if you don't adjust monitor tint).

    • RE: Finally a Linux Desktop

@IRJ I did a very, very short stint at a Radio Shack part time. It was very similar, and I left after they were able to rotate more people in. I got a kick out of being able to see their back-end systems and ERP though. Retail markups are ridiculous.

@MattKing , went to Applebee's tonight in your honor and had the burger I told you about. Delish! No mudslide though. I was a cheap date for myself tonight. I also went because of friend of mine waits tables there, and so I made sure to leave her a nice tip as well. 🙂

So, I looked it up and the only one is in northwest Houston, but I'm going to make the trip soon! Good man on the tipping, food service is never easy IMO.
