    • RE: How to handle this

If you're his manager/supervisor, fire him instantly. He's clearly stabbing you i the back. If you don't have the power to fire him, don't get him involved in any decision making anymore. He's probably the type of employee that will throw anybody under the bus just so he looks good.

Or simply confront him in front of the boss and ask why he's suddenly changing his mind.

    • RE: What are your sales email no-nos?

Good sales email is no email.
If I want or need something, I'll look for it. If I get sales email that makes it through spam filter, it gets marked as spam anyway.

Get a different machine for the CAD user, he'll be taxing CPU and GPU heavily. Get him Xeon workstation if you can, ideally something that's certified by CAD vendor. You'd be surprised how quickly they are to blame non-certified hardware if there are any issues with their software.

I got the email about it couple of months back. I told them to shove it, and warned that I would bill them for wasted time if they continued to bother me.

It's voluntary, tell them to get lost.

Won't move closer to the AP, or even plug in a cable to test.

I think at this point it stops being IT issue and needs management involvement.

Editing css is not the best practice, because if the theme gets updated all adjustments will be gone and will not work on another theme. I did pages from scratch using only html, php and css code without any themes, templates or pictures. But it is kind of inventing wheel.

What? Since when editing css is not the best practice? You have a lot to learn about web design mate. Any decent theme will allow you to include custom css styles, or should allow you to create sub-theme. If you cannot do that, you're doing things completely wrong. I wish people stopped using Wordpress for serious websites, because they usually end up where you are.

    • RE: Experian Credit Firm Hacked

Offering credit monitoring to affected customers is really like putting band aid on ruptured artery. Credit monitoring agencies are slow to detect anything, and can't prevent anything fraudulent. I had one year after Home Depot or Target breach, it took them over a month to notify me that I opened new credit card, or there was no reaction at all when additional credit cards were compromised.
What they need to offer is free credit freeze for life.

I just had a look at it again, and you have 22 css files. That's insane, that's what's killing your web server. You have total of 156 requests on each visit. Look for a plugin that will aggregate css and js files.

    • RE: Career Management/Recruiters/Headhunters - potential scam?

Scam or not, you don't want to pay to be hired. It's on the company that hires to pay recruiters/headhunters. Mark their email as spam, block telephone number, and don't look back.

    • RE: Notorious Short-seller labels Ubiquiti Networks $UBNT as FRAUD

I went over Citron report, and what instantly caught my eye was that part about distributor in Poland, supposedly run from the tent. Well, if they bothered to actually ask someone who speaks Polish, they would know the sign is pointing at location 50 meters away. Then if you look at the first picture, or simply go to Google Maps and look it up, you can see there's actual store inside the house. To Americans this might be weird, but this is how huge majority of small businesses operate in Poland, just to trim operational costs.

I'm pretty sure the rest of his claims can be dismissed a bullshit too, if you dig deep enough.

I questioned choice of Windows on spiceworks, and his reply was that he was more familiar with it. However, using client OS for server role is just silly - I doubt $800 windows server license is in play here.

    • RE: Flex Install issue in Wine

Wine should be included in Ubuntu repos, you might need to enable it in Ubuntu Software Center. So entire installation should be this:

      sudo apt-get install wine

Never build from sources if there is a package available in repos already.

Pets 'go hungry' after smart feeder goes offline

/s Whatever happened to just leaving a 40lb bag of food open on the floor?

With my dog leaving even unopened bag of food on the floor equals trip to a vet. We did that mistake once with cat food, little fucker ripped the bag open and enjoyed all you can eat buffet with 3 cats. When we got home few hours later all 4 animals had bulging bellies. Dog couldn't move. It wasn't fun cleaning litter box next couple of days and vet bill was almost my monthly rent.

Smart feeders can be a good thing when you have to leave for a few days, but even then I prefer human pet sitter.
