    • RE: How Complete is XenServer Really

Yea, I mean even today, as I was tasked with getting some new systems (got overridden for donation from local school) I still preach that whether your the owner or a manager, you shouldn't be purchasing things on your own especially software/hardware. They don't know what to look for other than what sales or their gut tells them. If you try to sit and explain things like requirements and processes then your told its too technical lol.

I'm sitting here enjoying my evening taking apart a craptacular 10 year old laptop to be told it needs to go in production...really, the price we about to pay for refurbing it cost more than me just outright buying a refurbished modern laptop.....politics

This is why RAID 1 + RAID 5 was generally sensible in 1997 and was insane by 2009. The factors behind the decision have changed.

Right but that is 12 years, not 12 hours.

Well, Scott did only change to Fedora within the past two years (I think really the past year). For many years before that he was preaching CentOS.

Now of course, at some point he switch, and there would be the 12 hours.. but at least he's been on Fedora for over 6 months for sure, and likely more like a year.

I think to help with that, maybe Scott could produce a quarterly report explaining his thoughts on OS, hardware and software changes that he is using. I trust Scott and his experience. But one thing he made sure he told me is to READ and DO MY OWN RESEARCH šŸ™‚

    • How to monitor 100 cloud VM's

Is there a way to monitoring 100 vm's in the cloud that are Windows 2012 R2? This is on a VPS.

The cpu, ram, hdd, network possibly would be the data to see. Need to be at a glance viewable and if able with report.

VM is a Windows 2012 R2, was just doing a reboot and got that error. Windows at one point booted and had an error but was unable to get logged in to find out.

      Suggestions?

    • RE: SIP ALG on TP-Link

Just FYI I'm using the EdgeRouter PoE v1.9.1 and when I disabled the ALG, all my phones quit working. Thank God for NTG & Scott we are back up and running but for the most part we turned ALG back on. I'm not 100% sure but it appears UBNT is the first vendor I've come across where ALG for SIP actually works. I've always used Linksys, DLink, Sonicwall etc and ALG/SIP is ALWAYS the first thing support wants you to disable.

Has anyone ran across any issues with the Edge Router yet?

@scottalanmiller said in KB4073701 kills QuickBooks:

Trust me it is easier to just move to Windows 10 or nuke it and get Quickbooks Online or another (better) app. Trust me I wish I could get my company off the Intuit high horse. It's pointless to use. I think SAM has broken down how bad their methodology for their development team for at least the last 20 years and it stinks!
