It feels like the OP thinks that this is a seller's forum as opposed to a group of IT professionals looking to help each other out. Or just trolling to waste time. Or a college kid who was given an assignment and is looking for us to provide the answer.

Brocade Fiber Adapter for SAN devices on servers also have that issue in which we need to turn off and on the ports so it actually maps the LUNs, happens all the time. I have never liked that brand.

I'm not sure where you're confused. BNC (analog over coax) goes to BNC. IP goes over the wire (ethernet). The appliance has an interface to configure your connected devices.

I honestly couldn't tell you as I've never dealt with a device that matches what you're describing.

While technically non-Ethernet switches are physically possible, they really don't exist on the market. Only Ethernet switching has ever really been a thing. So you are safe in that all switching is interchangeable.

so what we did was 3 step process - put the extension number on first alternative, another on second alternative, edit the call re-routing for the said extension number pointing to the line of 1st and 2nd alternative. we use the current timer but instead of going to VM it goes to the alternatives.

I think you are misunderstanding the meaning of speed as we were discussing. We are talking about the speed of the signal going down the line, not the bandwidth. People often call bandwidth speed, but it is not.

Also, copper can do 40GB/s plus today, too. The bandwidth is determined by the protocol, the speed is determined by the media.

@bnrstnr yeah, the price premium for the form factor tends to be nuts. Double the cost sometimes, just to make it look nice in a rack! Maybe if it was customer facing in some way, but not for normal use. And often there are other things that need to be on a rack shelf, anyway. Put them all together on one.

I have never dealt with a raised floor system, but I definitely don't want to crawl around if I can stand on a short step ladder instead. I had a very basic overhead ladder system installed in our server room and it is super easy to route new cables or pull old ones out.

Agreed. Though a raised floor looks much nicer, it is going to be less convenient for any maintenance. Usually aesthetics doesn't go along with convenience in my experience.

If you disable the adapter for the unwanted connection, it will work fine. Leaving both on will cause issues. What is it that you are trying to circumvent? WiFi or wired LAN?
