    • Demo VoIP phone DSS Key programming - What do YOU do?

I am preparing some phones for demo. These phones will not be part of the existing phone system of the potential customer, but I'd like them to be able to play with them for a couple of days for evaluation.

If there are three phones that are going out to the demo site; what would you program in those phones?

      My first thoughts are:

      1. Me! πŸ™‚
      2. One of the other phones
      3. the other one of the phones
      4. the office number of their existing office phone system
      5. the local pizza place πŸ™‚

      Other's
      Spouse's cell phone?
      Co worker's cell phone?
A directory setup with all their co workers or vendors?

I also thought I'd let them choose some others after the phones are dropped off, to demonstrate how quick and easy it is to manage their phones.

      etc?

      Thanks for your thoughts.

@scottalanmiller said in Fitness and Weightloss:

I've found that eating earlier in the day, and trying to eat when it is convenient for others rather than when it is good for me, are the top factors that derail my weight loss and make it hard for me to eat healthily. If I eat before I'm really hungry, I get hungry all day thinking about food. If I skip the early meals, I never get hungry in the first place (almost never), until late in the day.

I can relate. I'm down 150 pounds in the last 3 years, taking meals in a "social" setting is a killer for me. I also skip breakfast and lunch, taking breakfast only once every couple of months, and lunch only once or twice a month. I find that I don't even think about food until about 3:30pm and at that time, I'm only two hours from dinner at home.

I find sit down dinners with my wife and kids and making sure we spend enough time at the table to talk about each other's events from the day allows me to eat slower, and therefore, LESS!

The only thing I count is CARBS (it's the only thing that has worked over the years of yo-yo weight loss attempts). My target each day is zero carbs. I come in at about 40 per day. Haven't had bread or potatoes in years.... πŸ™‚

I so much enjoy watching all of your progress! Kudos to all of you!

Thank you...that was helpful...it looks like I did set it up correctly...that said, I do not have options like in this photo below...
      scan2email_01.png

That looks like an on prem screenshot. Office 365 does not have a screen like that.

Thanks Jared, I completely missed this in his question

@Scott Is there a domain involved? Could it be that you need the domain\username syntax for domain? or .\username for a local account?

Have you run "gpresult /h gpo.html" from a command prompt on the pc that is suffering and looked through the results? It may provide some info that will help.

@JaredBusch said in When does a port-in number show up in the Skyetel portal:

In your rush to defend this service that you like so much I don’t think you actually understand a thing I’ve said. It is impossible for your experience to be different because my experience so far is standard and the same.. I have simply requested a port and I am now waiting.

Your numbers were not in the portal immediately after the port request.

You must interact with Mangolassi from a very small phone. You miss so much of what is said, and misinterpret most of the words that are written.

I said we received notice that our number had a port date, and at that time they were in our portal. I did not say they were there when I made the port request. In fact the whole porting thing was a nightmare because of the losing party. The port request was made 4 weeks ago.

If you re-read my post; slowly and deliberately, you'll see that I was not defending Skyetel at all. I was simply indicating what my experience was. Which, and to the point, was different from yours, and different from what Skyetel said it should be in response to your question.

@JaredBusch said in When does a port-in number show up in the Skyetel portal:

Right, but the point is that those numbers are immediately routing on the Skyetel network. As soon as they are entered. Before you ever see the email.

Yes, it is a very small issue at present. But it is 100% an issue.

It is also an issue with a simple work around as noted by @Skyetel a few posts ago.

It is also an issue that is being reworked in a new porting page as noted. So the entire problem will go away.

But that does not negate anything I have posted.

Didn't say it did, your OP was a question. My experience on the same days was quite different than yours. Just thought you might like to know.

    • RE: When does a port-in number show up in the Skyetel portal

We got word (yesterday) our incoming numbers are scheduled to port in tomorrow. The numbers are already in our portal, they were there when we got the notification about the port in. Although they will not port until mid morning tomorrow.

This is what they sent us two days before port, when the numbers were already in our portal.

      Hey XXX,

Heads Up! We have just added the following phone numbers to your Skyetel account for configuration. Please make sure you configure them, enable/disable features and route them to their destination as soon as possible. As a friendly reminder, your FOC date is: 7-16-2019

For reference, these are the numbers that I have added:
      11112223333
      11112223334
      11112223335
      Thanks!

VitalPBX is bad in that they are still pushing SIP as the primary technology on port 5060.

      PJSIP is on 5062.
      f76c726b-307a-4c26-9843-945217b5a2a7-image.png

Asterisk has depreciated SIP in favor of PJSIP since Asterisk 13. Yet VitalPBX promotes that they are using Asterisk 16.4. To me, these two things work hard against each other.

I will circle back and try PJSIP again with the corrected ports. I would prefer PJSIP.

@Romo said in Yealink will not register with VitalPBX, Wrong password:

@JaredBusch The device is tied to the numeric extension, it lets you set the device's username to whatever you want.

The better question is why are you even thinking this is a good idea?

What benefit are you thinking you are gaining by using a non-standard approach?

All this does is complicate things by putting a random value in a place that is normally something that matches the extension. This is a 1 to 1 tie between this informaiton and the extension. There is no benefit to this.

Only after you've pigeon-holed yourself into that 1 to 1 relationship.

    • Freelance IT and VoIP techs?

We occasionally need people to pick up the slack or finish up projects for us, all via remote control. Little work; can be an hour or two days, you never know.

We have developed good relationships over the years with people we have found through Upwork, etc and have been very pleased with the results. Are there any freelancers hanging around here? We have often some work that our regular guys can't do, and I thought I would ask here before going to the old places.

Nothing in particular right now, just general IT and Asterisk stuff. I'm just looking to see who might be jobbing in their underwear! πŸ™‚
