      Trading Standards squad targets anti-5G USB stick

      "So what's different between it and a virtually identical 'crystal' USB key available from various suppliers in Shenzhen, China, for around £5 per key?"

      And the answer appears to be a circular sticker.

      "Now, we're not 5G quantum experts but said sticker looks remarkably like one available in sheets from stationery suppliers for less than a penny each,"

      if it stops people from destroying 5G towers, then the councils should give the snake oil away. As for the woman selling it, good for her. Idiots with that much money who can't understand science should be ashamed of themselves and I hope the new digital version of crystals/aromatherapy leads the way.

      I saw that, too. That's the method for a single desktop/clone stuck in a status that doesn't delete as normal. In my case, I have a whole pool that's empty, but the pool definition itself isn't deleting.

      iPhone 12: Apple makes jump to 5G

      Apple has confirmed its iPhone 12 handsets will be its first to work on faster 5G networks.
      The company has also extended the range to include a new "Mini" model that has a smaller 5.4in screen. The US firm bucked a wider industry downturn by increasing its handset sales over the past year. But some experts say the new features give Apple its best opportunity for growth since 2014, when it revamped its line-up with the iPhone 6. "5G will bring a new level of performance for downloads and uploads, higher quality video-streaming, more responsive gaming, real-time interactivity and so much more," said chief executive Tim Cook. There has also been a cosmetic refresh this time round, with the sides of the devices getting sharper, flatter edges. The higher-end iPhone 12 Pro models also get bigger screens than before. However, for the first time none of the devices will be bundled with headphones or a charger. "Tim Cook [has] the stage set for a super-cycle 5G product release," commented Dan Ives, an analyst at Wedbush Securities.

      Looks like they are copying the OnePlus, bug lagging behind.

      Apple has been lagging on innovation since they started on phones. Even ipads were just a reskin of a tablet presented in 2000.

      You can do a retropi 3 for about $75 if you count the case, SD card and controllers. ROMs are up to you. If you add a small screen, you might bump it to $150.

      Here's a challenge: stop using Spiceworks for 30 days.

      Done, many times over. Which is easy when a heavy handed mod gets a boner from ousting you from the community. Plus, after attending Spiceworld for the first time, I realize I never need to waste $$$ on that again.

      Be flattered someone still gets a boner for you. I'm devolving into a chicken mcnugget

      Pretty sure I'd be happier if I could slap the smirk off him.

      If it's the mod that I think you're thinking of, who's name rhymes with ass, then we have something in common. However, I would also posit that, due to the haste he displayed in sending me on my way, they no longer value the people that put time in to the community in the first place and only want quantity (as opposed to quality) in IT. That makes sense given that page views are their revenue generation. In the meantime, my challenge stands: stop using Spiceworks' community for 30 days, if you're currently using it.

    • RE: Active Directory Force All Users to Change Passwords on Next Login

      First, this is a Bad Idea(tm). Lots of service accounts may not want to change their accounts and you'll break applications that rely on them. The Administrator (500) account will also have to be reset.
      Second, this command should only be used when you feel like a scorched earth method is best. It will piss off everyone in the enterprise.

      The PS is two components, joined by a pipe.
      get-aduser -filter * | set-aduser -ChangePasswordAtNextLogon $true

      ref: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee617195.aspx & https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd391883(v=ws.10).aspx

      Good luck. I'm not executing that command to verify that it works, but it should. Woe betide the admin that does this in production.

    • RE: ODBC password

      Update: I've found that you can make a file.dsn and store your connection details there, e.g:
      [ODBC]
      DRIVER=SQL Server Native Client 11.0
      UID=<username_sql>
      DATABASE=<SQL Database Name>
      APP=Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
      SERVER=<SQL Server Hostname>
      Description=<Anything or nothing>
      PWD=<The critical piece>

      With a .dsn file, you can open the ODBC application and import the settings, similar to an outlook client connecting to the first time where it gathers the info from DNS & autodiscover, except that this gathers from the file. Obviously, a user would have to be admin level to import the file.

      These settings are all stored, with the exception of the password, in HKLM\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI<name> and it's important to note that multiple items are stored which requires one to export the whole tree from ODBC.INI down, not just the name of the ODBC source that you want to configure; the driver information is in a different key than the configured source.

      I am still looking over how to get the password to either be stored, or force it to import in another way without using a stupid bat file, which seems to be the preferred method. I hate, hate, hate using bat files in modern GPO systems.

      I'll update if I find more, though i would appreciate it if anyone else can add to this, especially if you have a solution.

      Are you working on a single domain or one root domain with multiple subdomains?

      (*&@^$(@ Thing. Apparently, you need spaces in between the commas. This is dumb, though. Some places, this doesn't matter and others, you can't have spaces, and then this requires a space. Stupid thing.
