      I got a little snarky in the reply that half of my company can see, a distro. Mix up tickets much? sigh...

      Well at least half of the company will know not to aggravate you. 😄

      I've mixed up ticket replies. They were about the same server/service, but different issues, and I had both of them open on different tabs as I fixed them at the same time. Unfortunately, my multi-tasking went sideways when I was interrupted at my desk and then the replies were typed in to the wrong spaces. 😛 Oops.

      I always worry my snark might hurt the relationship with that vendor we use.. meh.

      Well that vendor should pay attention and get the details right, lol. If the vendor can't handle a little snark, you need a more fun vendor.

    • RE: Windows Batch: Select Drive

      I was a little bored, so here you go:

      ##  Example drive letter selection
      # Only allow X, Y or <enter>
      do{Write-Host -NoNewline -ForegroundColor Cyan "What drive letter do you prefer as a backup?"
      $letter = (Read-Host -prompt "(X) or Y?").ToUpper()} while ($letter -notin @('x','y',''))

      # This sets the default to X, allowing the user to simply press enter if X is OK.
      if($letter -eq ''){$letter = 'X'}
      # Now set the drive letter.
      New-PSDrive –Name $letter –PSProvider FileSystem –Root “\\server\backup” –Persist -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue

      Basic drive letter set is done, but we can be more complicated:

      # Do actions based on a user that has an network location from IP.
      $ipaddr = Get-NetIPAddress|?{$_.SuffixOrigin -eq "Dhcp" -and $_.AddressState -like "*preferred*"}|select -ExpandProperty ipaddress
      # Set the preferred drive letter.
      $letter = X

      If($ipaddr -like '192.168.0.*'){
      New-PSDrive –Name $letter –PSProvider FileSystem –Root “\\alpha\backup” –Persist -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
      Write-Host -ForegroundColor Green "You're in Alpha!`nBackup drive connected to Alpha site.`nHave a sumptuous day!"
      }
      # if you have more networks, insert here with more if statements.
      Else{
      New-PSDrive –Name $letter –PSProvider FileSystem –Root “\\bravo\backup” –Persist -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
      Write-Host -ForegroundColor Green "You're in Bravo!`nBackup drive connected to Bravo site.`nHave a sumptuous day!"
      }

      My baby quetzal grew up! 4 hours (ish) to hatch, and 25 hours to grow to an adult. The interactions were about 2 hours apart. Unfortunately, I only got a 35% imprint bonus since I didn't interact every 2 hours. 😞 I need to see about adjusting some server settings as I'd like to be down to a 12 hour growth rate. In any case, I now have momma, poppa and child for battle, speed and weight birds, and they're all about 370th level. Pretty wicked!

      Is this like that digimon game where you had to keep the digital egg warm until it hatched, and then feed the digital animal etc?

      Sort of? There's a lot more to it. There are FPS aspects, riding a tamed dino (while shooting), building a base, harvesting resources (like minecraft), exploration, and there are PvP servers if you care for that.

      Setting up a new speaker. This is going into a super loud environment. It's capable of 120dB. Needless to say, testing the max volume in an office is not advisable.

      To confirm volume quality I think you should hide the speaker under a co-workers desk and randomly spot test it.

      Excellent idea. There is a built in "ringer" of dogs barking. It would scare the crap out of someone for sure.

      At 120dB, it might be the last auditory scare they ever get...

      Yeah, this thing is no joke. Scared me, and I knew it was coming.

      Fixing this:
      Qxenicj.png
      In case anyone is wondering how, here are the steps I use:

      • Do:
        Net stop wsusservice
        IISReset /Stop
        IISReset /Start
        Net start wsusservice
      • Then (if that fails):
        C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools>WsusUtil.exe postinstall

      Also, you can check the application pool for wsus and increase memory if you have a lot of clients. Details: https://www.404techsupport.com/2016/03/21/iis-wsus-private-memory/

      Also, while writing this, I fixed the reset server node error and my wsus is running fine now.

      Not fun 😛 It happens a lot for Server 2012 R2 and Server 2016 WSUS....

      It has to do with the database, as far as I can tell. There are several scripts out there for handling database cleanups, including one by Microsoft that's included with the application, and I've yet to find one that truly works perfectly.

      @Grey Yes, I usually use AdamJ's WSUS Cleaner script with powershell.

      I've been using that one, too. It's not great. It consistently throws errors and over-use tends to bork the database, requiring the postinstall option to get things rolling again.

      Taco Bell

      What at Taco Bell is vegetarian friendly?

      Everything. They are the most vegetarian friendly fast food chain. They will make absolutely anything on the menu as vegetarian.

      I never knew that, I thought it all came out of a freezer pre-made.

      Oh no, everything is fresh made. They ahve a massive online guide to customizing your orders, too. They actually take their food more seriously than most chains. They are excellent if you get to know how to order.

      Weird.

      What? The Church Organ karaoke with choir robes, or the fact the organist can play pretty much any song (or instrument?) you throw at him?

      I would think that walking in to a bar with a bunch of instruments or songbooks would be pretty weird, too.

      I've made it up to season 4 of Supernatural, to episode 15. I'm going to have to get the next couple seasons ready on my Plex box soon. It will be a sad day when I get to the end of the full seasons, though I do have Iron Fist on deck, and I'll need to catch up on Agents of Shield (I'm always a season behind).

      It's Batman's thing. He doesn't kill people, ever, except in that movie, and some of the New 52 novels that take place in alternate realities.
      Wonder Woman has no problem killing, neither does Superman, especially enemy soldiers.

      I think the big difference is with intent. Superman and Batman both kill or cause the death of many people, especially in fights with collateral damage. That was the whole point of Superman v Batman, since Supes was unintentionally the cause of Manahatten's destruction. Batman has been responsible for the same types of things, but then if you look at Injustice, Superman gets completely unhinged because of Lois' death (when she gets pregnant) at his own hands under the influence of the Joker, whom he kills out of revenge, and the realization that just elimination of his foes is a better alternative than catch & release. The injustice story line is actually one of DC's best IPs and they put it in to animated format, which was wise because all of their live action is crappy. I highly suggest you read that if you have any interest in comics or just reading at all.

      I asked for a cheesy bean, and they tried to ring up a Bean Burrito (at least that was the display) - again, that was $1.29.

      Cheesy Bean AND RICE, or a Cheesy Bean Burrito? Not the same thing. Like everything, semantics matter. A cheesy bean burrito is a bean burrito with cheese. A Cheesy Bean AND RICE burrito is on their dollar menu.

      I said - And I'd like a cheese and bean burrito. on the screen it said - bean burrito - $1.29 there was no mention of cheese, which is why I questioned it.

      Then I noticed the full on name on the $1 menu. cheese/rice/bean - $1

      Perhaps he just didn't hear me say cheese and bean burrito, and only heard bean burrito.

      It doesn't matter what you order, you're still going to get a colon blaster.

      I picked up FFXIV and they locked the server my friends play on. I can't even pay the $18 to transfer from another server. Severely limits the playerbase considering most people are going to want to play with their friends and expecting 20+ people to transfer servers is ridiculous in my opinion. That should not be required to play a game with people you know.

      Well, I'd avoid that game then.

      I'm going to request a refund

      Seriously, y'all are welcome to join Ark on my server. By the standards of cost that have been set by FFXIFCWTFXM, it's cheap.
