Just like @Dashrender, I'm in the snow, except I still have a drive home which, according to Waze, is going to be at least 55 minutes long. I'm not doing that. I'm working on the backup server. It sucks. Veritas Backup Exec. We all know it;s just a reskin of the Symantec bullshit. I hate it so much.

@grey I he meant refurbished, in like-new condition.
It's a bit confusing. They are actually not used. But often have been tested.

We just use LetsEncrypt and no wild cards.
Do you know if their certs will work for VMWare? The documentation I've read states that they don't have certs for anything except apache and IIS.
Jared and I use them for other things like Nginx. A very is basically a very, they aren't application specific. They don't do wild cards, but I would expect them to work on any web server.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Got to work today, 8:30am (usual time for an agreed 9am start -- I like the extra buffer of telling myself to be at work by 830 so when things go sideways and I'm late at 9, I'm actually on time) and the usual happened: everything went sideways for whatever reason, and we fixed it, and then I decided to get a couple change requests pushed through so I could update a server. No big deal except this one wasn't updated since it was originally installed, ca. 1/2013. Ok, start that at 6, leave the office at 7, finish at 9:30pm. In the meantime, the minecraft/ARK server lost power and it was brought back up after some delay (owner forgot where to put the USB boot stick that has the hypervisor). Fixed at 9ish, but I ran linux dist-upgrades, freed up disk space, etc. and then got that done at 10:30. Finally, get to walk in my own office and the f()ing server here has a drive failure. What the everliving f() is up with this day?

I used ssls.com to but a regular certificate and it was crazy cheap, $5.
Their cheapest wildcard looks like it is $85.
Thanks. Sent this up the chain! Let's see how things go.

I had absolutely no problems with them.
In fact, I was pissed at myself I had been paying so damn much!
That's a good way to describe my boss' face. He kept asking why there was such a price difference between this and Symantec's certs since that's what the org has been using for many, many years. That led to discussions of root auth and key length, but in the end I kinda just shrugged and said that the certs were no different.

@RojoLoco Never! I have several friends, including my BF that are of Indian decent ir directly from India and they run in to racism all the time. I fight the fight with them to educate on and eradicate the ignorance behind racism.
BF? Boyfriend?I did not know that about you, Jim.

RE: What did you have for lunch or dinner today?
Rhubarb pie is the best. I haven't had any in >20 years.

Best Friend Grey! How have you been man! You still SpiceTraining?
Best friend, boyfriend, whatever. It's cool.
No, Spiceworks and I don't talk any more.
As in no Spiceworks at all? How did you manage to stop talking, surgery?
Nope. It was pretty easy. A CM deleted a post, and I disagreed with him, and at the end of the discussion, when I said I'd leave if not treated better, he indicated that wouldn't be a problem, and he did it with an alarming quickness. It's that last bit, where it was so fast, that made me realize how much value they place on their core users today. Ergo, I'm not a core user.
I still wear the shirts and polos. Those are some quality cotton threads and clothes can be expensive. Of course, if there were a trade-in program to get Manglolassi or other brands, and they had equal quality, I'd jump at that.
Wow, just Wow! After all you did for SW, that is how they treat you. I'm seeing an inflated head in Austin on this one. I sure miss Nic!
Yeah, that Austin CM drives a Tesla and has his own smug cloud.

Certificate Authority Quagmire
So I have a weird situation, as you can see. I have 5 entries in my AD integrated cert database for discovery. One of them, number 1 in the list, is my 'primary' DC -- DC001, and it has the wrong name.
- How do I change the cert name?
I found an article from https://mssec.wordpress.com/2013/03/19/manually-remove-old-ca-references-in-active-directory/ that seems like it covers all of the needs I have over removing the old enries from AD so that there's only the 2 I will need (dc001 and a new one I'll create on dc002).
- Has anyone done this? What are the risks and/or things you encountered when doing this?

Currently watching about 17tb of data migrate from point A to B with robocopy /move option.
I arrived this morning to find my small, little 1tb transfer that I started Friday got nixed by the latest Windows Update auto-reboot
Hope you have something better than a 1gb network for that!
It's all local storage (DAS).

RE: Interesting Issue with Waze Arrival Notifications
I use Waze all the time; every day, really. I've seen what you describe, though my experience is a little different. It seems that it sends the arrival notifications based on anticipated arrival, so +/- 5 minutes of your actual arrival. It's worse on long trips since it will drop the network concoction. and then no notification will be sent despite how it is still running and everything looks OK.
I recommend that you post on their forums and/or research what they have to say there about this. It's probably way more informative than posting here.

@MattSpeller I recently discovered that Trader Joe's carries Nitro Stout. Unfortunately, it's like $12 for a 6 pack.

That is a cheap 6pack here in $CDN
We get fancy ones from Oregon for $25/6pack
I recall that! I went to Calgary to teach a class and was blown away by the price of beer. Your government must be making all their money on vice taxes. It makes a good case for giving up all of your vices!
