Aren't latency and jitter the most likely concerns with remote users? Assuming they have the standard minimum speed available?

Yes, and packet loss like you see on Comcast networks all of the time.

Packet loss or packet theft. . . with Comcast you can't be certain. . .

    • RE: MS SQL Server Requirements

This is literally impossible to gauge as each system will depend on far to many factors, disk speed, disk utilization, database size, number of concurrent users, number of concurrent operations etc.

A blanket statement of fine tuning of each system is required and professional setup and evaluation should be recommended.

I like teamviewer but they had some shady price-jacking going on a while ago that pissed off a lot of people.

    • How to: Export the content of an OST file for forensics

So you get a call from a customer, that customer ask you to find some email, you search and find a ton of PST files and several OST (Outlook Data File).

Opening the PST files is quite easy assuming you have Outlook. The OST files are generally way more difficult to open, because they aren't meant to be "opened".

There are of course tools that will do this for you, but why spend money when you can do it for free with open source software.

On WSL I've got Ubuntu 2010, from here you'll want to run sudo apt install pff-tools

Once that is installed, you can use pff-tools to export the content into a new folder in the same directory as the OST.

      So pffexport -f all -m all /ost/path/client.ost

That's it, all that is required to open an OST file and extract the content.

Schools close at the drop of a hat anymore. Too afraid of lawsuits.

      Not around here.

In our highschool (that @Minion-Queen and I went to) we had a few students die because they didn't close the school when obviously they needed to and there was no safe way to get to school from even right across the street, even on foot... but they still kept not closing them.

I would rather them close at the drop of a hat than not at all when they should. Safety should come first.

I don't really understand why there are physical schools at all, for the most part. The entire idea is antiquated.

Because parents need babysitters so they can work.

      Here-here.

      Soon to be a dad.

Well, looks like I may get the added joy of wearing a Life Vest all the time now, not that I know what the heck the thing is yet.

As much as people are saying this sucks, it's better than just dropping in the middle of nowhere and not being able to be recovered in time.

      I wish you luck.
