@dbeato yeah, I should probably do that. I should be able to move everything over to my backup host and do it that way.

I read about the Hololens2 yesterday, it seems promising. The $3500 price tag isn't ideal but if it worked might be worth it. But I don't know how far I could test or confirm that a system like this found function for us without just buying it and testing it. It may have to end up being one a speculation cost if it doesnt work out, but all of this stuff is completely new to us. I think we have applications for both VR and AR, depending on the circumstances, but I think that AR is probably the harder one to pull off.

I donโ€™t know of any AR better than hololens, even with the small view space of the first one.

Yeah, for what it was/is... the hololens was amazing!

You install something from Veeam on the host with the tape drive plugged in called "Veeam Remote Tape Access Service" and this allows Veeam on the VM to access the tape drive remotely. We have this running using the same setup you describe. Works fine and Veeam can see the tape drive from within the VM. No SAS pass-through.Capture1.PNG

So to update this, searches do not seem to work in shared folders, but they will work in group folders which is an optional app. I also had to setup the backup job in NC to be a cron job and not an ajax job, and add it to the crontab for the apache user.

      crontab -u apache -e

I couldn't get the fulltextsearch:live to work properly, so I added fulltextsearch:index to the cron job too.

      */15 * * * * php -f /var/www/html/nextcloud/cron.php */15 * * * * php -f /var/www/html/nextcloud/occ fulltextsearch:index

Is there something better than using a browser on mobile? Possibly something with push notifications?

For ML, you can go to your settings to configure notifications to be sent to your email.

I have that, but that is not what I want. I cannot get it to be the right mix of email notifications. It is either too much or too little.

Can we get ML to differentiate between a mention in a quoted reply, and a mention out of the blue?

There isn't really a different. Both are just text being typed in.

Anyway getting nodebb to work with Tapatalk?

Then there's no reason to make files.gemequipment.com. Just stick with files.gem.local until you're ready to make that public. Then once you make it public, you can get whoever controls your external DNS to add files along with it's public IP.

I have it restored and going again with a nice starting area (big castle and useful things).

realmc.minecraftr.us (that's my free afraid.org domain name for it specifically)

      Or if you prefer, tgserv.timothygruber.com.

Oh, it's version 1.12.2. I didn't update it yet because there's a couple plugins I run that haven't updated yet.

found it. It was the individual time for that ESXi member. It was running on it's own time, neither host time or any NTP. It was off by the 6 minutes. So for some reason, VMWare was syncing this setting with the host's ESXi clock, not the hardware clock, even though the settings disallow that.

How do you know the VMware tools was doing the sync?. As I said in my earlier post if windows goes and tries to get the hardware clock no matter what your tool says for heartbeat or times are pretty station itโ€™s going to get the Clock from the host.

look at the picture I posted above. It was vmtoolsd.exe that was causing it to jump forward and svchost.exe that was correcting it. I found this under event 4616

We use ConnectWise Control (formerly ScreenConnect [SC]).

Honestly, I would be hard pressed to give any other option a second look. BUT, it didn't start out that way. In the product's infancy, and early in our learning curve, we only used its basic functions (which every other products offers too). But as we mastered it; and it became a more complex and flexible product, we have turned it into a be-all/end-all for RMM. The things we can do through SC would amaze you. Granted most of it is OS related, so it's not something SC magically provides, but the fact you can to it without ever seeing or connecting to the gui at the other end make it extremely valuable.

Are you using hosted or on-premises?

On premises. About 50 feet from me ๐Ÿ™‚ Running on an Intel NUC ๐Ÿ™‚

Windows or Linux? Windows runs better with lots of resources, Linux runs way better for us in cloud on a "per dollar" basis.

Windows. Runs great. About 3500 Clients in Access Mode.

So you're a snowflake company that the specializes tools, that do way more then just check in and check out, won't work for?

Sounds like you have a bad implementation to me. I've been part of this battle before with engineers. Get one of the savvy ones on board and the rest will follow.

All this is my opinion. I see IT as managing and recommending tools that the business uses to function as a business. I see software as just one of those tools. Software development simply develops that software, and generally from a point of view of a closed system product. As a software developer, I would guess the main responsibilities would be to make sure the software functions for whatever business purpose it was created for. But as IT, I try and make all the pieces fit together so that there is a comprehensive picture of how we do business. In my case of the ERP, they are focused on making the product functional at a basic level, but completely miss other business needs, such as security, even though the best place for security measures are at that same software level.

It's like software developers are a car manufacturer, and IT is the transportation planner. You CAN make a car without regards to what kind of road it will be driven on, or if there are any relevant laws that should be part of the original design. But that would likely be an inferior product to something that we designed from the ground up to not only get you from point A to point B (the actual purpose of a car), but to also incorporate things like safety features, or navigation, or whatever so that the overall experience of the user was more than the basic functionality of the actual transportation.

Downloaded both the 1809 server and desktop clients from Volume Licensing Service Centre yesterday so the .ISO files are up on that side.

Note that once the .ISO files are down, they are .107 so they will need the latest Servicing Stack Update (SSU) and Cumulative Update (CU) slipstreamed in to be current.

Thanks - I looked in VLSC when this was posted here yesterday and it still wasn't posted. It is now posted and I'm downloading.
