    • RE: Datacenters: Colocation vs. Cloud

All limited companies in the UK, whether privately owned or publicly owned, have to submit annual accounts to companies house UK.

They can't fake those records. You can order copies of a companies accounts from the very body which issues company numbers.

Yeah, that makes sense. Bit this little Scottish company is very likely private and that profit / debt info is likely completely false.

If I bother to pay the admin fee, I can tell you for a fact if they are true or not.

    • Rant: Webinars, does anyone have time for them?

Seems like too many vendors or companies I turn to has a Webinar they'd love me to sign up for not as a but as a first gut reaction to a potential lead instead of other options.

No I will not give you an hour of my time for you to sell me product, give me a clear concise document/recorded video or just be there on email when I have a question.

On websites, in conversations, I keep running into this cycle:

"Can I get a demo of your product?
"No sir but if you just subscribe to our upcoming webinar"
" I need to evaluate 9 different products in a short space of time, I don't have 9 hours of webinar time, please may I have a demo as I might be short-listing this product for purchase."
"But sir our product is very nuanced and special, we need to walk you through it so that you can understand it fully."

Does anyone have time for them and or watch them? I can understand if you are an existing client they might be great to check out how to guides, new feature releases but when you are brand new.

I'm not talking about what you are "good at" - What skills you need to learn or certifications.

Let's take you as you are, chances are someone out there is looking for you. How do you find each other?

      Be careful when selecting templates.

Some are horribly designed, which can lead to poor performance and load time. Read reviews, look at performance benchmarks on themes, don't pick purely on looks alone.

Though with your time budget, if you had a choice between getting experience or getting certs.

      Get the experience first.

    • RE: How a High Minimum Wage Can Cripple a Business

What is the greatest lie every created? What is the most vicious obscenity ever perpetrated on mankind? Slavery? The Holocaust? Dictatorship?

No. It's the tool with which all that wickedness is built: altruism. Whenever anyone wants others to do their work, they call upon their altruism. Never mind your own needs, they say, think of the needs of... of whoever. The state. The poor. Of the army, of the king, of God! The list goes on and on. How many catastrophes were launched with the words "think of yourself"? It's the "king and country" crowd who light the torch of destruction. It is this great inversion, this ancient lie, which has chained humanity to an endless cycle of guilt and failure. My journey to Rapture was my second exodus.

In 1919, I fled a country that had traded in despotism for insanity. The Marxist revolution simply traded one lie for another. Instead of one man, the tsar, owning the work of all the people, all the people owned the work of all of the people. So, I came to America: where a man could own his own work, where a man could benefit from the brilliance of his own mind, the strength of his own muscles, the might of his own will. I had thought I had left the parasites of Moscow behind me. I had thought I had left the Marxist altruists to their collective farms and their five-year plans. But as the German fools threw themselves on Hitler's sword "for the good of the Reich", the Americans drank deeper and deeper of the Bolshevik poison, spoon-fed to them by Roosevelt and his New Dealists.

And so, I asked myself: in what country was there a place for men like me - men who refused to say "yes" to the parasites and the doubters, men who believed that work was sacred and property rights inviolate. And then one day, the happy answer came to me, my friends: there was no country for people like me! And that was the moment I decided... to build one.

"Have you ever gone out of town and forwarded your mail to the post office until you return? Our Mail Bagging (MX Backup) solution acts in much the same way by allowing you to forward your email messages if your mail server becomes unavailable.

When your email server is unavailable, Mail Bagging (MX Backup) stores the emails sent to your mail exchange (MX) server and sends them to you when your system is back online. What's more, our SpamWeeder gateway system filters any blatant incoming spam and viruses from all bagged messages!"

The school had no money, so I provided everywhere...I paid for all the stuff... Everything. Every decision, all planning, all features had to come from me. There was no leaning on someone else, no skipping pieces I didn't know, no using "whatever was there". You learn and you learn fast.

And when it's your money, you suddenly want to do purchasing properly too 🙂 So you learn that as a skill.

    • RE: IT Survey: Preemptive Drive Replacement in RAID Arrays

I will tell you 3 concrete facts.

      1. You must never reboot the servers. Constant up time is vital.

      2. Don't install updates, Microsoft will only break the server to force you to upgrade to the latest version.

      3. Linux is not safe for production. Too complicated and too buggy.

      Why are these facts true?

Because my experience, training and mentors have fostered a closed minded set of views in my mind and because of this I need to ignore all propaganda. I am not here to listen and learn, I am only here to teach others of the correct way of doing things.

Yes my job security might be at risk because I am not open to new ideas or learning new concepts but I'm irreplaceable here.
