@Dashrender That looks to be easier by far than setting up RBAC or mucking around with ACLs on a per-file basis.

Yeah, the OP can thank @stacksofplates for the suggestion.

I understand Scott comment about trusting hyper-v vs. VMware but the reality of that situation bro I was down at the hyper-v is so young in comparison to VMware

I'm not recommending it here, only stating that it is a weird emotional thing for the manager to dis VMware for Microsoft in a place where it is a pretty obvious technical problem but not do it where it would make sense.

LOl is it really weird? or is it normal even though it probably shouldn't be?

      This makes me very sad.

Why aren't you just using one or the other system for students since they're both free?

Because he likes to overcomplicate things apparently.

      Only some times.

No, this is a decision made before I ever got here... and as others have mentioned, I have no idea why it is like this, but I know of several schools who do so... It's mind boggling.

I pushed the school I worked at off of GApps pretty fast so I would only have to support one platform.

I wish I had that kind of clout here. At my last job, our students would have gone into open rebellion had we disabled Google. I actually wanted to push everybody to Google, but there was some political crap going on that I wasn't privy to.

Even pushing the students to GApps and staff on O365 is better than the bastardization you're fighting with.

lol. Yeah. The problem is that the students get licensed for O365 and local installs of Office... but... To get to them, they must have a MS-Account. /sigh.

Yeah. I really enjoy working with Suricata. At the time I was using it heavily, there weren't any very good tools around that I was aware of. It's nice to see it getting some much needed modernization!

Question about the Synology NAS systems... Does their OS reside in Firmware, or does it get loaded onto the drives that are put into the system?

Firmware, you can put completely blank drives in and boot it up to configure the unit however you want.

      Thanks.

Ah gotcha, okay I was actually following those instructions, as well as ones from DO, as well as from everywhere and anywhere.

Multiple times I got to different places, I was able to stand it up a few times, was even graphing itself once, but for the life of me could not get communication from my agents to the server, ports 10050 and 10051 showed open in uh...I think it was ufw? but I couldnt telnet into them, so not sure if it was my install or what was up.

      Here you go.

If you had experience in the industry you would never ask that. Cisco has long locked their phones by firmware. There are threads and threads of people trying to get the "open" SIP firmware for their Cisco phones.

Yeah really there is a way to get some of the very old ones working but it's an PITA and you'd be better off spending money on a newer phone from someone else..

We have CUCM clusters and even hate a lot of the way they do thing, but when you need the scalability, load balancing that Cisco clusters offer there very few competitors. CUCM has a bad name from SMBs buying it whihout knowing what features they need and just buying cause it says Cisco..

Of course you can't manage the internet side of things, just the local.

      What about WAN optimization/acceleration stuff?

I don't have a lot of experience with stuff like that, but it would be a good topic.

I'm quoting the price straight from their site, not Amazon... so it may still be a good deal on Amazon too.

I did however, install the 2.0 beta on an old Laptop this morning... Sadly, right now, it appears you have to have Windows installed in order to get the Beta to install to HD.

But my laptop booted it up just fine. It doesn't come with Google Play in the PC version, but I found an installer for it... going to try it tonight.

I have a sneaking suspicion that it is the fact that my 2 SQL Servers and the two other nodes that I want to use in this are on different subnets (although I am unsure as to why that would matter).

My boss is going to get me an IP addy this morning, and I'll build a totally separate cluster for these two servers and see what happens.
