Is it possible to migrate from MongoDB to NeDB after we've been running for a while? Easier to just start over?

@travisdh1 how has this been working for you?
I couldn't get mine up and running in the couple hours I had to experiment, so I abandoned it for the time being.

RE: Why is it called automation?
It seems like he's thinking about automation as, say, load balancing. Two servers responding to whatever variables on their own.

An automated assembly line for instance would have robots working on it. Someone has to program them initially.
If it was humans working on the assembly line it would not be an automated assembly line.Even automated robots need to be put into mode by humans. They don't just up and move on their own whenever they want. Like @scottalanmiller said earlier, they would have to be sentient otherwise. All automated processes have to be started somehow.

@Pete-S said in Why is it called automation?:
If it was automation, actions would happen automatically without manual intervention. If you for instance had something that would install and start or destroy cloud VMs automatically depending on the load, that would be automation. If you had something that would migrate VMs automatically away from overloaded hosts or change settings automatically that would be automation. If you enter what packages you want in a playbook and run a script it's not automation, it's just a script...
A script is automation, too. In any automation you still have to tell the thing to start, everything done without intervention after the start command is the automated portion.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Our ISP's "solutions consultant" just came through the door and didn't even know we were already a customer... She looked over at the reception desk and saw a Yealink phone and said "you must be on our managed services plan.." um no...
Anyway, she said something about making sure we're registered with "NENA" (or something that sounds similar anyway) for e911? I've never heard of it, had to try multiple searches to even find something related to 911... She claimed it's like $250 for a business to register and absolutely necessary. Anybody heard of such a thing?

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@RojoLoco I specifically ordered this one because it was so close... Silly me, thinking I could get it in a day or 2 :man_facepalming:
Should have checked to see if pickup was an option

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Seriously? wtf USPS... This thing was 19 miles away from me when it started and they decide to take it all the way across the country...

This was painful to read
Did you actually read the entire thing? Anytime Scott goes on those 8 post rants where he's writing a paragraph to every 4 words, I have to just skip those. Kudos to anyone who survived the whole thing.
It's taken some time to get used to, but I feel like it's easier to read because he's addressing each point separately. Wall of text is for sure harder to keep on point when really breaking something down. How he strings 6 replies in a minute is still a mystery to me though.

Nope. See this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_file_systems#Allocation_and_layout_policies
Your only options are Btrfs or ZFS.ZFS being the obvious choice for everything

Why are you guys running this on Ubuntu now?
Because it was what was the choice when we started and just keep updating. Why would we change?
For some reason I thought you were using Fedora

RE: What would you do...
We are in manufacturing, if we propose a custom machine to somebody and they take our proposal to another OEM then turn around and ask us to consult our competitors, they can get bent. We would easily tell them "sorry they couldn't do it, our original offer still stands"

What @WLS-ITGuy is saying and @bnrstnr is now suggesting is that the customer has already fired him. When they haven't. They simply picked another vendor who possibly proposed the same solution.
It may be that the customer wants @Pete-S to consult on the project but not have the entire project because his proposal was way more expensive.
A lost bid is not a termination.
It more sounds like, to me anyway, that the potential customer took his proposal to some other guys and they said, "yeah, we can do that for less"
Now that it's go time, the other guys don't even know where to start...
Definitely need some clarification on the scenario.

There is also option C. Tell the customer that they have our quote and that we would be glad help them with a full solution (but not the consultation).
That actually isn't an option, because the client has already engaged another entity to do the work. Of which it would likely be very costly to the customer to change vendors.
This is essentially telling the customer that you don't want to work with them and that you're firing them.
I really feel like this is the only solution. The customer already shit on him once... He's not going to consult the competition lol for a reasonable rate anyway, if you want to offer them some outrageous fee, that's fine.

RE: What would you do...
Your original quote should still be valid... Not your fault they chose a different route that isn't working out.

XOCE installer updates, disabling a banner and testing.
I just updated to this version. The banner is an eyesore for sure and eats screen space for no real good reason. They should have added it to the splash warning when you first login or something. I understand that it was a problem about where to receive support, but what I imagined from reading the forums was nothing like what they actually implemented.

just got finished with a meeting.
apparently they are going to push back my review until June now, because of what happened the other night.
And I just bought a smart watch to make sure I wake up for the calls if/when they come in over night.
Hoping it'll help.Yeah screw this place, because you missed one call, they are delaying your review. Get outta this place like it's a one night stand!
After ignoring his multiple requests for review for 6 months... almost seems like they were waiting for him to mess up. Such bullshit.

@WrCombs you need to help separate this conversation.
You mentioning Ubiquiti to your Sales guy, was for what purpose?
The business you work for sells and supports POS systems correct?
lol the original post said they were looking for APs for software, so super confusing from the start
How are you confused?
ipad based software so it can not have a physical connection like the rest of the systems we support(hardware wise) so we need ap's for ipads that runt the software.Because the iPad bit didn't come until later...
@WrCombs said in What Are You Doing Right Now:
Trying to convince the sales man to go with Unifi AP's instead of the Cisco Meraki MR33 for another new software they have added to our list.
