    • RE: XCP-ng project

@danp Right, they've talked about cloning (whatever the proper Github terminology is) the XC code and removing the copyrighted stuff, which I don't think XCP-ng is prepared to maintain as of now because they'll obviously want you to use XO anyway. The other option is to get Citrix to merge a commit allowing XCP-ng to work, which likely wont happen.

@bnrstnr said in Buying a New Car:

Definitely don't trade it in. You'll get ripped off. You're almost always better off selling it privately (here in MI, anyway). Unless, of course, your car is worth less than like $2000 and the dealer is offering $2000 guaranteed... I doubt that's the case though.

For me, there was a repair that needed to be done to my 2005 camry that would've either just frightened buyers away, or would make the car worth about $1500. I ended up trading it to my dealer rather than CarMax. Doing the math, doing so cost me $9 over the next 5 years. So for $9, it was worth the convenience of leaving my old car at the dealer and driving new car home.

Otherwise, I would've definitely looked at doing a private sale for mine.

A few years ago a dealer offered me $2000 for my 2005 Saab 9-3, I ended up selling it to a desperate family member for $2500, I could have sold it privately for about $4000. It's a pain in the ass to sell, and you have to deal with a lot of window shoppers, but if it doesn't cost you anything to sit on it for a few months, you can come out a couple thousand dollars ahead.

Just took a typing test for the first time in 6 years.
To my surprise, I type fairly quickly.
First test I got 68 with 20 errors (Warm up.)
      next I got 65 with 7 errors.
I'm impressed with my self (we're slow this monday and I was just trying to pass sometime and look busy.

I hate these types of tests. I want to know my WPM typing an email or some other document. Better yet, take my WPM from a heated chat. I'm never reading something and typing it back verbatim.

Do they not have a time tracking/punchclock software? Our ancient system that hasn't been updated since 2002 has vacation requesting and tracking built in.

I'm seeing a lot of HP and Cisco gear around, and most of you know my opinion on Cisco already.

I haven't been seeing nearly as much love for Ubiquiti lately. Maybe because it's been beaten to death?

The comparable ES-48-500W is about $150 cheaper than the Dell, though.

Here are some examples of software that is popular on ML:
      https://github.com/vatesfr/xen-orchestra
      https://github.com/RocketChat/Rocket.Chat
      https://github.com/nextcloud
      https://github.com/snipe/snipe-it
      https://github.com/NodeBB/NodeBB
      https://github.com/Ylianst/MeshCentral

A lot of us have things on GitHub as well, and tend to be much simpler as they're things like update or installation scripts:
      https://github.com/Jarli01/xenorchestra_updater
      https://github.com/travisdh1/FedPiHSecDNS

I can't find @scottalanmiller's stuff for some reason.

      Maybe he's only on gitlab?

      Confused lol.
Asked a supplier to check if the Dell X1052P did VLAN Routing as i'll need it for a site
(Before we get into VLANs yes we need them, not for security but for IP reasons)

      While i waiting found this:-
      https://www.dell.com/support/article/uk/en/ukbsdt1/how10783/how-to-configure-vlan-routing-and-static-routes-on-x1000-and-x4000-series-switches?lang=en
      Suggesting it does.

Supplier Pre-Tech come back and says no its a Layer2 switch....... I say no according to YOUR site its a Layer2+, and showed him the link i found. He referred it to their level 3 tech people, basically was a Dell person.

They come back and say "we wouldn't advise using the X-Series instead go for the N2000 range" that's double the price.
But can't tell me why they wouldn't recommend the X-series.

Buy a Ubiquiti and be done with it.

just got finished with a meeting.
apparently they are going to push back my review until June now, because of what happened the other night.
And I just bought a smart watch to make sure I wake up for the calls if/when they come in over night.
      Hoping it'll help.

Yeah screw this place, because you missed one call, they are delaying your review. Get outta this place like it's a one night stand!

After ignoring his multiple requests for review for 6 months... almost seems like they were waiting for him to mess up. Such bullshit.

      Personal choice, I prefer rackmount!

That'll rack up a lot more costs, no matter what, and eliminated the desktop approach, too.

$250 premium for a little extra processor. No thanks. We racked our 4-bay desktop FF Synology on a shelf and it looks just fine, not that looks matter at all anyway.

I have no problem paying for QoL features, but pay to win pisses me off.

assuming QoL is quality of life - I don't know how that equates to these games?

But they have all been pay to win fast forever. You "not pay" to win in like 20 years.

Not necessarily these games, but, for example, I play Path of Exile, and there are no "microtransactions" for currency/extra damage/content, but you can buy stash tabs to store more items and organize things better. They also have microtransactions for visual effects (like flashy swords, etc.) and stuff too, but nothing that makes your character stronger.

umm, is it just me or are the reviews and questions for this product all over the place? I've seen people post wrong reviews before, but this is way beyond anything I've seen before. Soap, phone case, dress, medicine, gauge, purse? All in the reviews. This charger must do it all.
